OT LEO question

Recommended Posts

Forgive the OT question, but I'm a new kid in town, and I really don't have anywhere else I know of to ask.

Does TN law require law enforcement who are in their vehicles at night, conducting traffic enforcement (i.e., radar/laser), to have either their parking lights or headlights on ? Obviously, they have to do so on the roadway - I'm talking about "lying in wait" on the roadside, trolling for speeders or drunks.

I know that in some states, LEO are required to have their headlights on if they are in their vehicles running speed enforcement, be it roadway, crossover median, or roadside. I could not find anything in Tenn. Code Annotated. I've seen one local Nashville suburb clocking recently at night, both parking lights only, and blacked out entirely, from the roadside.

Anybody have any info ?
