New Sig 716

Noooooooooooooooooo! :panic:

That was the only option I found. Is there some other way to remove the play? I dont really like a piece of rubber in my lower.

The rifle eats everything and is pretty darn accurate, but the play is annoying (shouldn't be there in a rifle costing $1200+ IMHO). I don't want to get too far off topic with this, but I'd like to know if someone else has any other ideas. Edited by Independent_shooter

How does the furniture and upper/lower fit together on the 716? I have the Sig 556r (7.62x39 variant) and she runs like a scalded dog, accurate too. My only knock is there is a lot of play between the upper and lower (I have an accu wedge that takes out most of it). And the handguard fit leaves a lot to be desired, have tape where it meets the gas block.

This gun is tight and has no play anywhere.

What is this about needing tape? Got a picture?

My Colt LE6920 has play between the upper and lower. It is annoying after handing tight guns like the Sig 716.

ahhhhh specialty arms  II, i know a lot of the boys over there

I've been in and out of that place since I was a kid. I bought my first gun there when I turned 18. I bought many more afterward.

They know my Dad very well. He's probably one of the top buyer's they've ever had for revolvers. He's collected guns most of his life, even before I was born. Edited by JohnC

I got my 716 a few months ago and love it. I actually bought it for the piston. I don't like cleaning very much. It did have a little wiggle between the upper/lower but it has a set screw adjustment to fix it. It doesn't work very well so I threw an accu-wedge in there instead, now she's tight. I went with a Trij. TR-22 on Larue, offset 45 deg. backups, AAC 18T, and currently looking for a UBR to replace the CTR. Nice and accurate, almost runs with my buddies Accuracy International 700. This piston system is wierd though, the bolt has gas rings! Sig says it runs fine with or without. Edited by flyanything

Toss up a picture of yours with the scope and mount if you can!

Went to the range today and put 40rds through the SIG 716 today. That was all I could take since it got really cold and then started snowing really hard right before I packed up for home!

Gun functioned flawlessly. I really like it. It makes me not care about my Colt LE 6920 5.56 anymore. LOL

Couldn't get an accuracy report due to having to leave so quick after getting it sighted in. Maybe next time!

Didn't get pics or vids of it since my wife got too cold and had to go warm up in the car while I worked on sighting it in. But she did manage to get my friend Chris from earlier in the day on video shooting the 50 BMG for the first time.

Not sure yet since I've still got to clean mine. Will report back when I do.

I will say after 40rds, the gun still looks really clean.

All in all they're still easier to clean than a gas gun. The upper doesn't need much, if any cleaning. The bolt has been covered and on my Sig 556 I never once cleaned the lower receiver. When you finally do have to clean it, assuming you have cleaned a direct impingement gun, you will be pleased. Great gun.
