Before I say this is awesome of him to do so, I need to make sure it's not a hoax.

Ellen, I love your show and your genorosity. I want to share a story that warmed my heart in the wake of Newtown CT. I live in Nashville TN and have 2 young children in school.

Today I was at my boy's school for a little bit. As I walk up to this public elementary school I see a Marine standing guard at the front door. He is a father of two young children in the school and is volunteering his time today, tomorrow and Wed. to help keep our children safe. He stood in the rain and cold and never once left his "post". Today I am so grateful for that Marine and his willingness to protect our babies and am grateful to hug my babies as they returned safely back home. God Bless the USA.

Anyone know if this is true or not and where in Nashville this is so we can find out who the guy is?

That would be Gower Elementary. I have a friend that posted a pic of him on her FB page.

TY, and if he is unemployed and willing to spend his days standing out there, armed or not, anyone want to chip in on something for him? Does he have any kids that go to the school?

Too bad he's unarmed.

A Marine would have to be dead to be unarmed.

A knife. A rock. A stick. A fist full of car-keys. His fists. His teeth.

Improvise, Adapt and Overcome.

I'm thinking he's on to something. Any number of Vets would be glad to guard schools.

I would gladly post myself at a school. Problem is in my area they are not to receptive to help. I would be willing to bet almost anything that my offer would be refused. Last time I offered my help they said they didn't need it.

Id be happy to volunteer my time and do this. Though he should be wearing something other than cammies, Marines don't wear them in public normally. I do appreciate what hes doing though

No Marine is ever Unarmed as long as he is still breathing. ( Sorry Mike . I couldn't resist.)

Semper Fi!

I agree about the cammies Spots. However I wouldn't want to trash a good set of alfas or even charlies if something came up.
