Where are all of the pro- gun voices?

I agree with the majority of the responses.  The public is not ready to hear the rational answers.  It was all I could do to keep from throwing things and beating my fists on the table this Sunday morninig when Bill Moyers on the CBS Sunday morning news program repeatedly asked "why" the mother of the man who committed this horrific act owned "so many guns".  All I could do was yell at the TV, "because she could".

What we as gun owners need to do, as already posted, is be ready with the real answers around the water cooler at work.  Don't be fanatic.  Try not to come off like what they already see us as "gun nuts".

The real answers are simple:

The "other" common denominator in all the mass shootings in the last year is the person had a mental problem.  You can't stop crazy.

You stop a bad person with a gun with a good person with a gun.  When something goes really bad, who do you call?  The POLICE (a good person), who has a GUN.

The principal at the school in Conneticut bravely tried to charge this individual only to be shot down.  If she had a firearm and trained in it's use, (as we do now with pilots in cockpits), she could have ended this masacre without sacraficing her life.  But as it was, she only had the ability to literally throw herself at the assailant.

Laws do not stop people from BREAKING laws.  We have speed limits but people still speed.  It is against the law to steal, murder and drink and drive but people still steal, murder and drink and drive.  Yet we don't take everybody's cars because some people choose to drink and drive.  In other words, we don't punish the majority good people for the actions of the minority law breakers.

Murder is in the hearts of man.  Cain killed Abel and I don't think he used a gun.  Outlawing guns will not work.  Heroin, cocain, methamphetamine are all illegal but it still permeates our society.  We tried to outlaw alcohol with prohibition and we all know how that worked.  It didn't.

Look at the countries that have outlawed firearms.  It has not had the effects that were intended.

Look at the following links.  They will show that if you totally outlaw firearms, people will find another way, again, you can't stop "crazy".  China which strictly outlaws the private ownership of firearms is proof if this.

Villager slashes 22 kids with knife at elementary school gates in China

Ax-wielding man kills 3 kids, wounds 13 in China September 21, 2012

Needless to say, you will not see or hear this in the main stream media.

People ask why we need semi-automaitc firearms with large capacity magazines.  Well why would somebody need an automobile that is capable of 200 MPH + when there is no place in the United States where you can legally drive that fast on public highways.   Yet, if you have the cash, you can buy a Bugatti Veyron that will do 258 MPH right off the assembly line.  Several US production cars, such as Corvettes and others are fully capable of speeds in excess of 150 MPH and we all have heard the statistics of the number of fatal crashes where speed was a major contributing factor if not the only factor.  Yet there is no law prohibiting the manufacture and sale of these vehicles.

The Ed Show's Ed repeatedly reports that armed civilians have never stopped a mass shooting.  Anyone seen this?   http://www.kgw.com/news/Clackamas-man-armed-confronts-mall-shooter-183593571.html   nnnOOOOOoooooo !!!

The ProgLibs are in FULL THROTTLE. I have specifically watching Pierce Morgan, CNN and MSNBC to be informed.  I'm gonna puke if I hear any more "question speak".  You know they way your kids talk in 21st century Valley Girl tone.  And how they start all their sentenced with "So . . . "

But I'm so relieved:  I notice how they are framing the purpose of the 2nd amendment is to protect the rights of hunters and collectors.  Oh they are lamenting in the most understandable way that there must be a way to come to some 21st century solution while protecting the precious rights to hunt Bambi.

The media climate isn't good for a big pro gun announcement. They'd get ripped to shreds. I say let things cool down a bit before going on the offensive.

X2 , Right now liberal media is throwing darts at a dart board and seeing what will stick

Our govt has lots on its plate but make no mistake about it,a ban on ARs and similar rifles is

coming,I suspect the 1990s ban resurrected will come down the pike  - of course it did nothing to protect

the un armed as Connecticut was about as strict as any state in the USA gets.....

There is another reason not to say anything.

Right now all those Christmas spending dollars are going to gun and ammo sells. The Left is driving up sells and firearms are going like ice water in Hell. They only real damage they may inflect is the panic price hikes.

My local stores are packed. On the 22 and 23 Memphis will have a gun show. I am going to try to brave it out, but I shutter at the thought of the crowd that may be there.

I just got a temporary ban on Google + for replying with facts to all the "Hey we banned guns in Australia and it worked" posts.  I have been battling the anti-gunners on Google + and Facebook for like 4 days now.

Basically my arguments go like this:

1. More gun control laws will not solve the problem

2. To solve the problem you need to understand the causes

3. If our kids (and citizens) had better morality and respect for others we would not have this problem

4.  There are almost as many murders with knives as guns (more ammo on gun control won't solve the problem)

5. Guns save more lives than they cost

My answer to the quest of "What will you tell all the grieving parents with kids ...

"Would you rather pass an effective measure that will save lives or an inneffective "Feel Good" measure that will cost lives ?

My Answer to the "I only use the facts, I don't read biased articles / blogs / etc" ...

Well then, where will you get your facts ?

Be sure to make it clear everyone is entitled to their opinion in the free country.

Come on, join the fight for our gun rights, Google +, Facebook, Twitter, meetings, anywhere you can make a difference

NRA is about to have an announcement in a day or two.

it's just a two week ban.  Basically it's my second offense, the first one was sunday I think when I copy / pasted the links you see here in response to a bunch (maybe a dozen) of the anti-gun posts.  The second was early this morning when I pasted data refuting the Australian position that their ban reduced gun violence (maybe 6-7 posts).  It seems that copy / pasting the same thing repetitively labels you a spammer by their police-bot.  What is looks like is a list of links to their various policies and a notice that my google + rights are curtailed.  That means at least no posting or replying to posts.  I just shut it off and I'll go back to it in two weeks.  The next time I 'spam' them I'll use a disposable email address and G+ log in.

NRA is about to have an announcement in a day or two.

Press conference Friday.

First official statement today:

"The National Rifle Association of America is made up of four million moms and dads, sons and daughters – and we were shocked, saddened and heartbroken by the news of the horrific and senseless murders in Newtown. Out of respect for the families, and as a matter of common decency, we have given time for mourning, prayer and a full investigation of the facts before commenting.

The NRA is prepared to offer meaningful contributions to help make sure this never happens again.

The NRA is planning to hold a major news conference in the Washington, DC area on Friday, December 21.

Details will be released to the media at the appropriate time."

The NRA response is more respectful than anything BHO has said so far. Hopefully what they have to say Friday won't be a cop-out on our gun rights. They have a prime opportunity to present facts and logical explanations and dis-prove the lies from the left.

I've wanted to explain to a couple people that our right to own such weapons isn't just because they're cool, but because the true purpose of the 2A almost necessitates that type of weapon... but I figured that someone who wets their pants at the mention of the words "assault rifle" isn't going to respond well to the suggestion of insurrection.

No and you won't hear the NRA go down this road either.  Barry would really use that to start stamping us out.

By waiting to speak and scheduling a "major" news conference, the NRA will have the ears of a much larger audience than if they had been speaking all along. Wise decision IMHO. I just hope they have good words to say and represent us well.
