You could say that about a lot of things. With the media and how they are interconnected, anything and everything can show up on national headlines. You get a murder in a small time and the closed big city news sends helicopters, the anchors to do a "special report" and name in something like "Chaos in the heartland". Then you have youtube. Kids going around to a drive-thru and throwing a cup of coke or water or whatever at the drive-thru girl. Before youtube, noone would have ever known about that incident, but in todays world, it makes the <insert major network> nightly, daily, morning news.
