From what I understand, you don't have to be a member of the House of Representatives to be hold the Speaker's

position. I'll admit I got that from Mark Levin Show a week ago while listening to him, and was surprised myself. He was

laughing about the member who got up in the house chamber and nominated Newt Gingrich, saying that he could be

Speaker, once again, if nominated.

Never heard that tack before. On dialup for a while, take too long to research it.

Certainly an unelected person can not vote in the House, I'd feel safe to say.

edit: you and Levin are correct. Article 1 Section 2 Clause 5.  Far out.

I third West!

The Constitution does not require that the Speaker be an elected Member of Congress.

But keep picking, I'm sure you'll find a fly in the soup some where.  :)

Now, now. :D

That was a shocker when I heard Levin say it. It was a shocker that they don't do secret ballot for Speaker,

either. The caucus should have a secret ballot just like a union vote, Mr. Speaker. You even were for that,

you bum! At least be consistent.

Laura Ingraham says that Paul Ryan is up to replace Boehner.

That's some of the best news I've heard in some time, now. Ryan would be great.

Now, if we could only find Jack Ryan for SecTres. :D

Has she introduced the bill yet? I saw the others that were but not this one. Just maybe (hopefully) she is doubtful of its passage.

Must not have. Surely there would be a verbatim transcript out.

That would seem to be cutting it rather close, since Drunk Uncle Joe has promised that it will be a done deal by end of the month.

http://www.nraila.org/legislation/federal-legislation/2013/1/feinstein's-new-gun-ban-bill-likely-to-be-introduced-january-22.aspx

Leaders in the U.S. Senate have stated that January 22 will be the first day on which new Senate legislation can be proposed, so that is the most likely date for the new, sweeping legislation to be introduced.

I figured they would know more than me.

+1 to TN Rep. Jim Cooper for voting against Pelosi. May have been the smartest move he's made.

Cooper's done a couple of things lately that have surprised me.
