Yeah... these don't actually accomplish anything... You know that right?

:koolaid: I wish people would take the effort they put into these petitions and spend it doing something that can actually make a difference.

In fact they can accomplish something, they can provide the feds with a list of names to investigate.

They can serve a purpose, but in this
case I think the ones who see the
petition will just laugh. It's a metric to
see opposition for their way through
making a gun law. Don't know how it
would be used except for the argument
of their so-called transparency.

I may sign it, anyway.

I agree. Started to say that, but some

That's not tinfoil, I can believe they would look at websites, forums, and petitions etc. the thing is they would have to siphor through countless billions of individual comments and statements over the last 30 years since Al Gore invented the internet.

You guys crack me up!

There are a bunch of anti-gun petitions on there, so thought I'd share the pro-gun here.

No, not really..."they" don't have to do anything much at all; at least not that requires physical intervention.

Most of what we consider "private" information never was private; it's just easier to find and access now and finding what they want to know is quite easy; especially when people so routinely spill their guts on internet forums and social media.  If you've ever posted it anywhere you should assume it will ALWAYS be available should anyone want to see it.

That's not 'tin foil" hat stuff; it's simply the truth.

Whether they are looking and whether they are looking at "you" can be debated but the government seems to be amassing vast amounts of information on pretty much everybody.

I joined GOA this morning. I plan on re-upping my NRA membership later this week (although I'm not sure the NRA has our back as much as they proclaim). I also plan on joining the TFA (just read about them thanks to TGO on another post).

I wrote an email to Fleischmann (3rd District) and plan on writing an email to Corker and Alexander later today. Fleischmann has a pretty good record supporting the 2nd Amendment. I don't expect an email to Corker or Alexander to help much, but I'll do it anyway.

I wish petitions like this were helpful, but consider this. There are many petitions on there right now asking for stronger gun control. Considering that those in charge already have a preconceived preference to the issue, who do you think they will "listen to"?

Although it would make me a "panic buyer", I've considered trotting down to the gun store and purchasing something today. I mean a firearm. I cannot have too many, and a flipside to the "panic buying" is that often record number of guns are sold in very short amounts of time. I am of the mindset of the more guns that are being sold, the better.

If politicians wanted to outlay wearing evil blue shirts completely, they would be much more cautious about doing so if 100 million Americans went out and bought blue shirts rather than sat at home and signed a few petitions that would go overlooked.

I got around to writing Corker and Alexander an email. Not the first time I've done so. I've done so before and received "we have your 2nd Amendment in mind" messages. I don't know if they are generic emails in general or personalized ones. I have however wondered what would happen if I sent an email asking each of the to ban all firearms such as those used in CT. I wonder if I would receive an appeasement reply to that one as well?

I am a "Benefactor" member of the NRA and a Life member of the TFA as well as a yearly member of GOA.

The NRA is the 800 lb. Gorilla, and depending on how they respond to all this is how far down the tubes our ability to keep and bear arms will slide, but

I still believe that here in TN is where we get our best bang for the buck, and sadly, there is very little effort out there to stem the tide of the loss of our freedoms.

I received this e-mail today, and I am afraid that it harbingers the fact that too many have decided to not work, to not get involved.

Wilson County Tea Party

December 2012

Dear Friends ...

In the last 3.5+ years, we have met many wonderful people who believe in liberty just as much as we do.  Many are now fearful that we are about to cross a threshold in which some of our beloved freedoms will be lost forever.  However, few people have stepped up to volunteer their time to help us accomplish the mighty tasks before us if we are to remain a free nation.

During these 3.5+ years, we have relied on a small core group of volunteers to accomplish all of the duties necessary to run this tea party.  We have always hoped that others would come forward to help us but this has not been the case.  Although we've gotten much verbal support and our supporters have grown dramatically since 2009, few have believed in our cause enough to come forward and devote the time and physical presence necessary to show the strength in numbers needed to force positive change in our federal and state government.

Everyone in this core group is tired and, as a result, we have made the very difficult decision that we can no longer continue running the Wilson County Tea Party.  Therefore, we have decided to disband the WCTP effective immediately.

We wish all of you well and want to thank those who have helped us along the way.

May God bless....

Like the story of Scrooge, if this remains unchanged, we will all be saddened and our progeny moved toward serfdom.

That's just sad...at the same time, I'm getting a bit tired and discouraged too; especially the first two or three weeks post election sooooooooooooo....I sort of understand where they are coming from and why they are throwing in the towel.

As I don't live in Wilson county this doesn't directly affect me but it's still sad. I think the entire Tea Party movement, if it's to remain at all, will have to find other ways to organize.
