Teens knocking on door and running away.

No birds heres lol....front door had a big muddy footprint where they kicked it.

I would get a game cam but $80 is steep right now. And its too damn cold to camp out every night.

What about one of those drive way motion sensor alarms? Put this somewhere where it won't cause false alarms and you could be waiting for them by the time they make it to the door.

This is often part of some regional or national game and teenagers are doing it in a lot of places, having learned about it from the dark underside of the internet.

It's a dangerous game, and it IS trespassing. The local police would be interested in occurances, and depending on the jurisdiction, crack down on the perpetrators. Often, this kind of stupidity escalates into more serious business, like breaking and entering.

If they're kicking doors, and the door kicks open, don't tell me that they wouldn't go inside and steal. Serious business. Shoot a trespasser serious.

How many people here would hesitate to shoot a person who just kicked in their door? Unless that person is running away, they're getting perforated if they are still standing there when the door flys open.

If they ever do kick in our door and they come in they will be eating lead. If they are just standing there looking surprised they will be held at gun point till the police come. If they run away there is no way this old fart can catch them. LOL!

If it continues I will have to eat it and do something about early warning so I can catch them or some sort of outside alarm. I do not know if it is kids/teens horsing around or if it is people testing how strong the doors are. There have been home invasions in our area.

Thank You gnmWilliams, I have got that bookmarked.

It's ding dong ditching... My brother did it while in high school, but never after 10ish.  It's the equivalent to making prank phone calls for the older generation and I would say harmless.  Are all teenagers like my brother and perfectly harmless, no, but be creative and play a fun little prank and have a good laugh.

I played Ding Dong Ditch a time or two in my youth but never did I try and kick down a door. DDD is where you ring the bell and run. Not make the occupants believe they are about to be attacked.

You know how hard it is to get a toddler to sleep?

I had a neighbor that would always let his dog piss on my mailbox plant every morning , after replacing the plant 3 times and asking him to stop I placed very fine broken glass around it ; it stopped.

So.. because your neighbor was an ass , you caused the dog pain.. nice:(

Thank you.

There used to be an idiot that would drive through our neighborhood late (I mean 2-3 am) and would throw garbage, rev his engine, and do burnouts at the end of everyone's driveway that lived on the street. Well, a few handfuls of "caltrops" at the end of my driveway put a quick stop to his mid-night burnouts. I guess he got tired of replacing tires & got the point!

Leave the door ajar, or tape over the latch, when they kick the door it will fly open. Now it's breaking and entering, or a home invasion. The cops will be much more interested at this point.

But seriously, the game camera is the best idea.

A combo of the 2, video of the break in.

About 10 years back something similar happened to me. I turned the TV off for the night (midnightish) and then heard voices outside my sliding glass door. I go to investigate and it was 3 males standing on my porch. They took off pretty quick when they saw me. I turned out my lights and watched from inside the house to see if they would come back. Around 1 or so they show up and tried opening my neighbors door. I came out with a shotgun that time and they took off again. That's when I realized they were teens and I plotted my revenge. Got the paintball gun out and me and a pal waited for em. We both positioned ourselves in the darkest place outside the house and set up a crossfire. Got bored and went in for a beer and then they showed. I got outside as quickly as possible and got a few rounds off with the paint gun. Not 2 minutes later cops show up asking if we heard shots fired, told em no but there's a group of hoodlums around. The cops ended up talking to the parents and it ended their run. Afterwards i found out the kids had been vandalizing house throughout the neighborhood. Good luck with it. Some punks will get excited over the challenge if you go after them and some will get scared. It's a tough situation but I would try and ID them somehow. Edited by FIST

I never did this when i was a teen, Had more respect for people and also if my folks had found out, they woulda tanned my hide. Is it kids these days that have nothing better to do than play pranks on others late at night? Don't they have homework, a job, chores to do? Also dosen't about every one of em have some sort of electronic device to keep them occupied?

Think a friend with a paintball gun waiting on the knockers would make it stop right quick. ( maybe have your paintballing friend use paintballs that smell like rotten eggs or maybe skunk.) If I knew you better, I'd volunteer to help.
