I agree more often with Susan Lynn and the deciding factor in my vote would be based on character.

Well, her daughter married my son. If you want a true character assessment, pm me.

A good mother-in-law assessment is a rare thing :)

Yeah...that was pretty dirty politics on Beaver's part.

Although I don't know that accounts for the recent actions against her.

True.  I do not see how the two things are related.  Senator Beavers has been a very strong supporter of the Republican Party, so this appears to me to be another mistake on the part of teh leadership.

A mistake for the citizenry.

Was it dirty politics, or just being rude? Dirty politics is rampant on both sides of the aisle statewide and nationwide.

I don't think I can categorise not notifying another candidate when we have people in Washington DC preparing to sell

out so-called core beliefs in the name of the "fiscal cliff", especially when they know good and well they are wrong.

That's more like what springs from dirty politics.

And it sure is nothing compared to the Republican leadership and their version of dirty politics.

When a politician goes to the Capitol(either one)by campaigning one way, and then by magic, they appear to have

changed, morphed into some kind of beast by voting for something you consider near and dear, the opposite, that's

dirty politics.

Also amazing how many become incredibly shrewd investors once they've been umm "approved" by their party there. And of course that pales to how much more they somehow quickly learn about the art if they make it to DC.

Seemed pretty dirty to me and I really didn't care what party was involved but if dirty is too strong a word, okay...how about sleazy or perhaps, a lack of character??? ;)

She may vote "conservative" and that's fine but her actions in 2010 tells me that Mae Beavers is either a liar of she can't make up her mind; neither are qualities I find appealing in someone sitting in either house of the state legislature. Does that make her as "bad" as some others, probably not...but that doesn't mean I think she's the best we can so either.

All I really know about Mae Beavers is the gun law she sponsored and her voting record, plus what I have

read on this thread. Comparing this one event to the many hundreds or thousands done by every other

politician tells me she is behind the curve as far as dirty politics go, and the Republican leadership has let

opportunities slip that are more important to me than this one example. I imagine she knows that was a

poor act when she changed her mind, for whatever reason, and that could have been dastardly, don't know.

When there are bigger fish to fry, you don't destroy everything to get to the ones that really need frying. I

just don't consider this to be much. If someone would have mentioned Fedex or UPS as lobbying the Hell

and swaying her vote, I would have become a bit more animated, but not what seez has to get others to

elaborate for him.

If there is something more than this, how about letting it out? That ain't sleazy enough to get out the guillotine.

and in some bodies it is completely legal to do such. That's what makes it that much more wrong.

This isn't a "throw her out" conversation...I'm not talking about destroying her; she can't even be voted on again for a while.

I know it's human nature to classify/quantify "sins" and place them in some kind of order...so yes, I agree, she is "behind the curve" compared to many when it comes to dirty politics and questionable acts. That doesn't mean she shouldn't be called out for some questionable acts or given a pass just because she is not as "bad" as others or because she has a firearms-friendly voting record.

She's in for a while and she isn't in my district so what I think of her is of no real consequence anyway...however, come her next election I may well be sending some money to her opponent if he/she seems a better choice.

More to the point, I don't think any of this side discussion has any real bearing on the topic of the thread. ;)

No, it probably doesn't. It may be human nature to do that, but sometimes you can't do much more than that. In

her defense, it could have been more of a bad call or mistake, and been read as dirty more than it might have

been. It could have been dirty as Hell, also, but if one has a track record of doing dirty deeds, and a poor voting

record, it is easier to crap on her parade. Compared to what Fincher did on his first vote in the House by voting

exactly the opposite of what he campaigned for, I consider her to be a saint.
