And A-10 Warthogs, etc. are mightier than anything the revolutionaries will have. I don't care if they have 100 million people.

They don't seem to be doing so well in Iraq, five-plus years in...

BTW, let me add that I fully believe that if they were allowed, our forces would put an end to all the issues in Iraq in short order - my point in this case isn't the ability of the military to win, it's whether or not the politicians will allow them to fully do their job.

Which is why I say it could happen - do you really think the government here (and all the military, for that matter) would really wipe out entire cities, killing many, many innocents in order to 'win'? If they were willing to destroy everything, of course they'd win, but what good would that do?

Maybe I'm just stupid (no comments from the peanut gallery, please - hehe), but I really do believe the THREAT that the 2nd allows is enough to keep things in check. We just have to keep the 2nd...

You're only 20something years old so it can't be that long.:D

But you're right.

The ACLU however has never, to my knowledge, taken a case involving the 2A. Maybe this will change.

Hey man I been saying that for like, 8 months now! LOL :( I hope it will change as well.

Let's see what happens after Heller. I am pretty sure Heller will affirm an individual right. Not sure how far that will go. Let's see if they change their tune.

I'm really intrigued to see what happens with that case. it's definitely going to be interesting if they affirm an individual right.

They're going to affirm an individual right. Maybe tomorrow.

One can only hope. Bet the decision is 'weasel' worded instead.

It will be a narrow decision, that only applies to Washington D.C., and will rule that a complete ban on functional firearms is unconstitutional, but they won't go much further than that. Scalia or the Chief Justice will write it.

Yah, but this is the sort of decision that will make it harder for gun control measures that are similar later...

If they affirm an individual right they will have to decide whether legislation about it is subject to strict scrutiny or not. That will be the killer. Because all the other rights are, afaik. So it is unclear how they could differentiate this one.

Damn Mars, straight for the throat. You could have at least brought up the M1 Abrams before going for the kill.

As a former crew member of a M1A1 tank, I can tell you one thing about that A-10. I'm very glad that mean SOB is on our side!

I wouldn't mind having my own A-bomb, but I doubt I could afford to buy one.

I'd like a B52, too, but same problem.

A-bombs, B52's......I'm trying to figure out how to fund an AR and a AK!
