Unfulfilled Govt. Promises Will Most Likely Be The Cause of Any Riots / Civil "Unrest"

Nearly Riot For Subsidized Housing

http://godfatherpolitics.com/8484/somali-immigrants-nearly-riot-for-subsidized-housing/

The meatier quotes from the article -

"This is just something to look forward to as the welfare state expands. The government intervenes in the marketplace and brings taxes and regulations that bankrupt small businesses and cause people to lose their jobs and homes. Then the government comes to the rescue and offers all manners of welfare in the form of subsidized housing and food stamps. People grow accustomed to it and dependent on it, and as long as the government provides for them, these people will keep supporting the politicians that promise more welfare benefits."

"Meanwhile, The Department of Agriculture reported the largest increase in food stamp participation in one year..."

"At what point are police going to be called out for crowd control when food stamp riots start happening because the government can’t afford to provide them anymore or when the government has to reduce the benefits? From the beginning, Obama’s plan was to cripple the economy to create an environment where people run to the government for help and assistance. But when the government can no longer afford to keep their promises, there will be rioting in the streets..."

Which somewhat leads to this article -

Armed Citizens Thwart Criminals

http://godfatherpolitics.com/8489/armed-citizens-thwart-criminals/

"But liberals like Bob Costas, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton want to disarm Americans and take away their ability to defend themselves.  They only see the evil that some people create by using their guns illegally.  They seem to be blind to incidents where law abiding citizens use their guns to prevent those evil people from making them victims."

"The police can’t be everywhere and protect everyone.  That leaves our protection to ourselves and the best way to do that is to carry a gun and know how to use it."

Then, there may yet be hope for those who live in the People's Republic of Illinois -

In this case article = blog post.

Yeh, and the "blog post" you refer to, actually reports the news better than the Huffington Post. :D

Posted

It cites no sources.

Do you not see the links within the writing citing where the information came from?

In the subsidized housing riot story, these two links are provided -

http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/local/2012/12/09/police-use-pepper-spray-to-handle-unruly-crowd.html

"The Department of Agriculture reported..."  http://www.fns.usda.gov/pd/34SNAPmonthly.htm

Point is, the writers have processed the information on the stories that are already out there and come to a logical conclusion of where these types of incidents are leading.  The conclusion is my whole point in posting these writings.

Who does he cite in this blog except his own prior blogs?

I guess the New York Times or Wikipedia have
to be cited.

Blogs actually do better on the news that the
great and indisputable media, nowadays.

I suppose they must be works of fiction then.  Non-believers, feel free to move on to other more 'factual' threads.

Not really, the media has an agenda to push and so do most if not all bloggers. I think the idea of impartial news reporting is as dead as the dodo
Having said that I would be shocked to find an impartiality written, fact based article. This is after all the Internet and they'll let anyone on... Until Obama hits his magic Internet disabler switch that is ;) .

For the record I have not yet read this particular article so my rambling thoughts should not be taken as a slight on it or its author.

I've done this before, but I will be brief, Nicky.

The news was originated by a political faction hundreds of years, expressly to sway the public. It has never been

an intention, from that point on to now, to do anything other than that. Depending on what you believe in any one

place of "news", you may find that true about a lot of sources of information. We tend to think of one source over

another as fact, when we should be using that information to come to our own conclusions, and decide what actually

is factual upon our own discoveries. Using a source can play both ways. A blogger can be of any belief he or she

wishes, and we can pick and choose which ones we like, just like HuffPo and the NYT.

When Uncle Walter Cronkite, after all those years of reporting the news, and a lot of people believing it, comes out

as a socialist, one world government kind of guy, it made a lot of us scratch our heads and become more skeptical.

Besides, I was being sarcastic. :D

I can definitely agree there. Personally I take everything with a few grains of salt regardless of source. I remember a time not to long ago when I paid little to no attention to the news one way or the next. It wasn't that I didn't care, I just had the distinct feeling I was getting piss down my neck and didn't like anyone telling me it was rain.

I miss those times. Sure I'm "better informed" now but only to the point where now I know where a bunch of people stand when I never cared about their "feelings" on the issue one way or the next.

I know I'm far from alone when I think "gee, wouldn't it be nice to just hear the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth?"
Cronkite could have been a socialist, rightwinger, commie, or capitalist, wouldn't bother me as that's his choice and his opinion. As long as I don't have to hear about it day in and day out every time he reported it wouldn't matter to me at all.

I guess even above and beyond that I'm tired of people telling me I should be afraid. This comes from both sides and just seems non stop. I don't want to live with my head in the sand but come on, tell me what's actually going on and what is actually being done about it and how I can help. I've git no use for a life lived in fear of intangible maybes.

In the old days, the news reported actions and events. The truth was fairly easy to see. This happened, that happened, so many dead, etc. Now the news, while reporting events, is more about plans, meaning, interpretation, motivation, etc. Much harder to know what, if anything, is true.

My comment about Cronkite only shows how things have changed from one generation of newsies to another.

Now they have become almost blatant. He didn't make that statement until years after he was retired.

In any news article, there may be shreds of truth, and some reporting may be all the truth, but something that

can be made, or is political in nature, will be spun to the reporters' desired angle. And it is for that very reason

I have been called a tin foil hat wearer.

"And, that's the way it is".

Anyway....................

My point is that people who are over-dependent (or dependent period) on these Taxpayer-paid so-called "government" social programs will go nuts when the "govt." can no longer provide them and will immediately seek replacement sources.

Look how crazy things got just over the rationing of 200 Taxpayer-subsidized apartments.  http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/local/2012/12/09/police-use-pepper-spray-to-handle-unruly-crowd.html

And check out the violent   threats of democrats and unions over a piece of legislation being passed.  http://washingtonexaminer.com/article/2515629#.UMend6VIpaC

Some of which have already come to pass -

The only expectation of truth I have in print news is the date time group at the top of the article being correct.

And even that may not be good these days.  I don't know the newspaper technical terms (masthead, etc.), but as I recall, news articles used to have printed by the date what city the incident took place in or where the writer was reporting from.  I find myself many times these days trying to figure out where a story is taking place because that info seems to be missing nowadays, especially on web articles.

There will always be food stamps available.  The problem will be that the supermarket shelves will be empty -- for everybody.

The government will blame the store owner for the empty shelves.

SOF did an interesting article on the likely causes of civil unrest in the near future. This was one of the causes they discussed. Also food riots from the lack of food.
