I am looking to buy a smith and wesson 642(or 442) and I want to put a xs sight on it. Xs sights shows one available for it but it says that it requires gunsmithing to install. I was wondering if any one has done this before and can you explain what type of gunsmithing is involved.

There's more than that on a 642/442. The sight is integral to the barrel. It has to be milled off and a groove cut into the barrel for the sight to fit in.

With the added expense of gunsmithing for a 642/442 to have an XS sight on it you might want to look at the m&p340 or 340pd. They're .357 revolvers and are cut from the factory for the sight to drop right in.

That was what I was wondering, if it would just be cheaper to buy a m&p 340. About the LCR, I had one of those in the past it was a great gun and I love how the grips fell in my hand but I want to pocket carry it sometimes and the grips are to big for that. I also had the smaller grips and they just fell horrible in the hand.
