So, I promised everyone that came out here that I will eventually make my way out for a forging weekend out towards Nashville. BUt its gonna require everyones participation. We will need someones place to set up at, with either a gas or coal forge, or both, especially if one or two of you guys with small portables could bring them. I can bring a piece of rail, but the more anvils, the better. I can bring some hammers and tongs, but again the more, the better. So if you have any of the above available, please post here. And let me know if your interested.

What type of event do you have in mind? A class, or just general forging? One day, or multiple?

Classes and a general hammer in. Sharing techniques and a beer, not really set classes, just showing each other a few different things, and getting some new people time with a hammer in hand. I was thinking either sat. or sat. and sun. But if I did two days I'd have to save the cash up for a hotel room or find a camp site, don't wanna drive 6 hours each day lol. Also it would have to be after the holidays so I have time to get the money saved for fuel.

I'm in. Spots can crash at my house. I have a coal forge and a awesome rr track anvil I just got from 56ford guy. Let me look at some dates and think on some details.

So you're the one that bought that out from under my nose, lol.

I'm in, and I'm sure Dad would be too. I can bring a hammer or two, an anvil if I get my RR track cut by then, and my propane forge.

Yes, that was me. Just know it went to a good loving home.

I was thinking we might be able to use my house to meet. I do have neighbors, but we would be fine during "normal" hours.  I'm on the Kentucky border. I don't know how close that is for everyone.  I still need to work on some logistics, but I am throwing the idea out to see what everyone else is thinking.

That would work for me.

I dont think metal will be an issue. I have several rasp, files for knives round and bar mild steel for household stuff etc. I can also bring some leaf springs if anyone wants go home sore and blistered from to much heavy beating.

I've got two bars of 1084 that are 1/8"x1-1/4"x48" that we could use to make some smaller blades with. I've got RR spikes out the yin yang, and I can get more, for knives or hawks.
