According to the department manager at my local WM, it's these folks that are causing a lot of this. He said that as soon as shipments come in, the local dealers buy up the stock so they can mark it up and sell it at the local gun shows and in their shops.

As far as WM's success, much if it is due to the very same government spending people are complaining about. The corporation gets millions of dollars in tax benefits and subsidies not offered to small businesses. They are also notorious for keeping wages low and hours low to prevent providing benefits while helping employees take advantage of government benefits like food stamps. Smart indeed.

Bought a 550 brick at WM for $22 this past week.  I have boxes from 5 years ago that were priced less than half that.  So maybe they don't really need to confiscate our weapons ... just skew the marketplace so severely that average folk get priced out of the possibility to be capable marksmen.

As a kid I'd shoot up a brick of .22 in a day, and I'd earn enough in an hour to buy 2-3 more.  A young kid today would have to work 2-3 hours to buy one box of ammo.

Best thing we could do is buy up some .22 & give it to a young rifleman ... that's the next generation of RTKBA defenders.  I've got 3 boys I'm trying to keep stocked!

Walmart Sevierville had great ammo stock, but no 22lr, but did have plenty pistol and high power rifle. Did have some 223 50 grain stuff, and they did have 7.62x39. Oh and they did have several tactical 22s, Sig and M&P, I thought about it, but didn't. We were there around 3:30pm today.
