Going to be in Murfreesboro next week.

Just wondering, what is there to do in Murfreesboro? I have never been there and I don't have any real plans. Pretty much going to have about 2 days there.

Anything I should be sure to see/do while there? Edited by vontar

The geographic center of the state is there. You can go see the marker for a couple of seconds.

Back when I was surveying we stopped to eat lunch there one day. I told my crew chief " you know we ought to get a stake out and write 'actual center of the state' on it and hammer it in about 20' over that way".

Come about 45 minutes south on 24 & visit the George Dickel distillery, another 20 minutes & there's Jack Daniel's.
I think you can get a tour of the Barrett factory?

I might go to George Dickel, I went to Jack Daniels last spring and enjoyed it.

As for Barrett, last year when I was in Nashville I was going to drive down to Barrett but there was no open to the public tours then. Has that changed?
I remember I believe there was a gun shop that sold Barrett rifles. Anyone know if there is a place you can pay to shoot a Barrett? pretty sure I can't afford to buy one.

not ruling it out but probably won't be shooting this trip. Not going to haul ammo, cleaning supplies.

I wish I could get up toward Nashville this trip. In short my wife has a business trip and I am just tagging along. Last year it was in Nashville and I found my way to the strip and I want to get back.

I will probably check out The Outpost Armory since they carry Barett rifles I believe. At least get to see one up close.

getting some idea going now.

I know 100 percent certain 1 place I am going. I am going to Dairy Queen every day I am down there.
I don't have one in a reasonable drive and well, I am going to do some damage to some blizzards.

Cannonsburg Village. Google it for location. It's right in the middle of town. If you go north several Rec areas on Stones River and Percy Priest Lake.
The gun shop is Outpost Armory. Right by Barretts, exit 89 off I 24, southeast of the Boro.
Have fun. Edited by billyscott

Yuup....they'll have some 50BMGs there; it's a great store (which has gotten a good chunk of my money since it opened).

Yep, I just bought a Leupold VX-R 2-7x33mm scope and a Burris AR-P.E.P.R mount tonight there. A really impressive gun store.

Just wanted to point out the article said they give tours March through November.

? You might call ahead then. We went on a "tour" yesterday.
The "tour" is about 15 minutes long and you walk maybe 20 yards at the Distillery.
One of the older guys shows you the still and how to make their shine and it's over with.
Then there is the FREE SAMPLE!
