Thank you CZ USA! - Great rifle & C.S.

CZ has restored my faith that good customer support does exist at times. After explaining that my Franklin Gun Shop purchase of a "new" CZ 527 included a warranty card already filled out month's ago, CZ checked and rechecked their files to assure that their records were clear of that warranty claim. They now have me on record as the owner of that "new" rifle. They followed up with several calls from a couple of different departments to give me reassurances. Thank you CZ-USA . ps - the little carbine is very well built and may prove to be my most accurate rifle (.223 cal).

For any unfamiliar with the background of this FGS fiasco ...

11-29-12: Speaking of Franklin Gun Shop, I have just had an interesting purchase. Purchased a "new" CZ rifle a couple of days ago. This evening I pulled out the manual and warranty information. But, I found the warranty card (owner's stub) was already filled out with a date of this past April. The filled out card also had my CZ's serial number! FGS represented and sold the firearm to me as new. This finding suggests otherwise (perhaps). I will check with CZ to see if they already have the firearm under registered warranty. Then I will address the findings with FGS. I will post a followup post when resolved (hopefully in a satisfactory manner).

11-30-12: I waited for Brian and told him the CZ did great at the range but when I went to register the firearm the card was already filled out per above. He looked at the card and said he remembered that customer and that while that customer was looking at the rifle he must have filled in the card (despite the fact he had never purchased the rifle per Brian. Brian quickly took the filled in card and tore it up. I said I needed to keep it until I heard from CZ. I was perplexed but polite and said in view of the stuation I would like an adjustment. He said "sure maybe a box of ammo". We finally agreed on a modest $ in the form of a store credit. I thought we were finalized but I asked that he initial the store credit for me just in case I needed to give it to another clerk later. He grabbed the store credit from me; tore the credit up and said "you're telling me how to run my business and we are through".

Happy to hear! I followed you previous thread but never commented on it.

I as well can't believe the owners response at FGS. As a small business owner myself -- I would never dream of doing what he did. Most small business owners at the end of the day fully understand that without customers and clients, they wouldn't have a business. But there are a select few that feel "Entitled" & "Privileged" and simply don't give a rats a$$ about customers. These are the ones that boggle my mind and I wonder how they stay in business.

Happy to see the manufacturer took care of you. It would have been just as easy for them to say deal with FGS. Customer Service (in its true sense) seems to be a lost art. Its good to see companies that still know what it is :)

Good luck with that CZ! She sounds like a dandy!

CZ does make some darn fine bolt action rifles, sorry to hear about your problems with the owner of Franklin Gun shop though, I'll make it a point never to do any business there, as I wouldn't have handled that situation very well, I don't take very kindly to being defrauded and selling a used rifle as "new" is most definately fraud in my book.

Thanks to all for your supportive comments. Brian's explanation made no sense and when he suddenly turned on me I thought of the Shakespearian phrase "Me thinks he doth protest too much"; he seemed to have decided a good defense is a "sh#*@ty" offense. The CZ is very clean so the "past warranty" will forever be a mystery; his response will be an even bigger mystery. :ugh:

I'll stop this broken record babbling and get to sampling some of those gun shops that you good folks on TGO have recommended to me.

That was wise to ask them to initial the credit - I can tell you've been around the block a few times.. I've had a situation where I payed a business too much and told them to give me credit in the computer instead of change, only to come back and them have no record of it and the girl that I dealt with had been fired. I had no way of proving it and I didn't want to pointlessly argue about it (there was a line of people forming behind me and it probably looked like I was trying to scam them anyways (who asks for credit instead of change?)) There was nothing I could do but learn from it.

Glad CZ took care of you, it would be nice if these kind of stories were the norm but unfortunately service after the sale has become something of a pleasant surprise if/when you find it and not something I expect.

Yes indeed. In recognition of this special experience I have reserved this space for two promotional messages:

"CZ USA - Where support after the sale is our goal."

"Pranklin Gun Shop - Over 6000 Firearms and 1 Azzhat"
