1911A1 Rear Sight Advice

Recommended Posts

I have a 1911A1 that had an adjustable rear sight by Micro on it. Long story short, the head of the set screw is stripped out and I cannot purchase a replacement. The sight is no longer available, and the dovetail is too large for modern rear sights unless I add metal back into the dovetail and re-cut the slide that I just had re-blued. This is leaving me with what I believe are two choices:

1. Find a different set screw, drill a new hole in the base of the sight, and tap it to accept the new set screw.
2. Use high strength Loctite. :(

Any other suggestions?

[/quote]It is a 1/2" dovetail, but the techs at Brownells told me that I was SOL.

It is .24" tall on the front and .10" on the back.
