1897 Winchester 12ga

I am looking for a gunsmith to restore my great grandfathers 1897 Winchester 12ga. I want to shoot it, but it is in rough shape as far as I can tell. I am looking for someone in the middle TN area to at least give it a once-over and tell me what needs to be done or how much work it actually needs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Give Bennie at the Lebanon Gun Shop a call (615-547-9600). He is an excellent shotty guy (and a damn good trap shooter, too)!

One bit of advice that my father gave me (about operating the gun), when he passed his model '97 Winchester to me was - make damn sure to keep your hand WAY back... Being 12 years old I either forgot or didn't pay attention, I had to learn the hard way... the bolt is an excellent knuckle-flesh stripper, when pumping it!

Dont be surprised if your 'smith says it is all set

Winchester used one for ammo testing named it Old Reliable  over 1.2 Million rounds fired

heres a link to DOB using your serial number http://marauder.homestead.com/Model97sn.html

I own 2  and the 30" full makes a great crow gun as I wont shoot steel through it for waterfowl back when we could use lead it was a real duck killin machine that now makes apperances at the trap range occasionally.
