Why do they get away with this? It's unreal
While FOX 32's Larry Yellen was interviewing the dog's owners, two police officers drove by the home. 90 minutes later, they came back, asked why Phillips why he had contacted the media and gave him a ticket for not keeping Colonel on a leash.
"They were giving us a ticket, three days after the fact," says Phillips. "So I think they're probably trying to cover their rear ends."

I think this one is interesting. If i remember right, this is a pretty nice location in Chicago (...north side...). These folks have been voting for this sort of stuff for years. I say if they like it; get as big a load of it as ya can handle, and keep right on likin it. How's that workin out for ya???

Show dog owners dont usually live in "across the track" locations.. This stuff is evidently ok down in the inner city of chicago where the poor folks live. We'll see how well it works out in the affluent neighborhoods. My only concern is for the dog(s) who might be in danger from these overbearing jackasses.

Chicago never dissapoints. It always wuz and is still is a sewer, no matter the location or socio-economic status of the citizens. How's that worker's paradise workin out for ya socialist sons of satan? Looks to me like ya got the makins of a jack booted thug police organization in at least one precinct in the 'burbs. I say: "...call Rahm and get him to fix this one up. If the pup dies maybe ole Rahm can raise him from the dead. Afterall, everything is possible with these sons of b*****s. This is the great liberal utopia the boschelvics dream of...."

I'm really disappointed that no one has been along yet to tell us that "there has to be more to this story than what's been reported".

True ...

Eye Witness said the dog wasn't lunging or threatening and was sniffing the grass around and wagging its tail. A friend of ours has a bully like the one pictured, and it's the friendliest little dog.

Power, when giving too much, certainly can go to someone's head. I'm pretty sure that it what happened in this scenario.

This one got fired, not for shooting and killing a 12-pound mini-dachshund, but for filing a misleading report.

wow, there is allot wrong in that news story.

This part really brothers me,
"Just last night, a sergeant and a lieutenant came to the Philips household wondering why they were willing to speak to the media, and kind of wanted this to be buried, and we don't think that's an appropriate response," says Lamonica.
[background=rgb(255, 255, 255)]Then the part about the police going back days later and writing a ticket should just be tossed out on those grounds alone. (anyone ever get a speeding tickets 3 days after the fact? (not counting photo camera speeding tickets))[/background]

A Cookeville, TN cop did the same thing to a boxer puppy; only he killed it. Nothing happened to him, the family did win their lawsuit though.
Yeah...I mentioned that a few days ago in a different thread and was told how great a guy the cop was and that I guess he's now a detective.

I don't know if there is just a sudden rash of these things or the media is just hot on reporting them now, but we had one of these in Clarksville a couple weeks ago where an officer shot a dog that was chained up in the owner's yard. The owner didn't even know there was an officer on her property. She just heard a gunshot, went outside and saw her dead dog on the chain still. No explanation was given to her then and I haven't seen CPD give an explanation in the paper yet. WTF?

Someone comes on my property and shoots my dog I'm thinking I'd be feeling like I had a reasonable belief that I was in danger of death or serious, bodily injury regardless of what kind of outfit the dog killer was wearing. I mean, what reason would I have to believe that the psycho was going to stop with my dog? Edited by JAB

Well according to the owner she went outside to see what had happened and the officer just apologized to the woman and called his supervisor to come out. Apparently this guy requires adult supervision when playing cops and robbers. If it were me I would not be interested in a settlement; I would only be interested in seeing the officer fired.
