Heller Decision

are you kidding? They don't care for the constitution now, what makes you think they'll respect it if a pro 2a decision is handed down?

the mayor of DC will stomp his foot, throw a tantrum and say "we're not going to follow that ruling!"

Is anyone else hearing that there might be plurality in the decision?

OK, will the decision be 5-4, 6-3, 7-2, 8-1.

I am thinking 6-3

I dont know what you mean by a plurality.

I think the gun ban itself will go down in flames. I think they will find an individual right, per Ashcroft's memorandum. I think there will be lots of disagreement as to what reasonable restrictions on the right could consist of. I think both sides will go away disappointed.

Again, I could easily be wrong.

I'm pretty sure the plurality comment on the liveblog was a CYA after they came out and said it was almost certain that Scalia would be writing the majority opinion. Since the blog, as a matter of policy, does not offer predictions, I think they just tossed out the plurality thing to obfuscate the issue a bit.

I could be wrong, though. We'll know in about 18 hours. :thumb:

Pardon my internet lingo naiveté, but what is CYA?

Looks like the Men in Black will issue their decision tomorrow morning.

Though it doesn't affect us directly in TN, every victory supporting 2nd Amendment rights is a good one.

Just one of many blurbs, this one from Washington Post:

According to both the calendar and AP, the Heller decision comes down today, June 26, 2008. A day which will be an important day for Constitutional law in this country. And I'm betting a day that both sides will find both joy and anger.

Now we wait...

Less than 10 minutes now, and I'm pretty nervous (based on how liberal some of the court's decisions have been this week)...

A win (5-4)!!! I will read the opinion thoroughly today and post comments tonight (for those of you interested in a lawyer analysis). I will also provide some links to constitutional law experts' commentary for further review. Have a great day!
