XDS .45 carry load?

I just bought a Springfield Armory XDS.45acp. Can anyone suggest a good factory loaded hollowpoint to carry in it. It has a 3.3 inch barrel.

Maybe if speer makes a gold dot short barrel load in .45acp. Otherwise a 185gr jhp should work best but any .45acp load will work. Personally I would probably use a hornady 200gr xtp myself. Probably not optimal but it would be my choice.

Bought a box of 185gr xtp, 185gr ftx and a box of 200gr xtp this morning. Won't have a chance to shoot it until Wednesday though. Thanks for the suggestion. I will check to see if there is a short barrel gold dot.

General rule of thumb for optimal expansion of a .45acp is a 230gr bullet for a 5" barrel, 200gr bullet for a 4" barrel and 185gr bulley for 3" barrel

Have you shot the XDs with other ammo?

Kinda curious how it feels compared to larger .45's.
I suspect a 1911 would ideal but I've got a bit of a fever for the XDs.

I have only shot 230gr ball out of it so far. Recoil is quite a bit more than a 1911 but i bought the XDS due to it's size and weight. I would simply carry the XDS more often rather than leaving a heavier/bigger gun in the truck.

It kicks more than a 1911 but less than a ruger lcp or keltec pf9 and gives you the bonus of being a .45 to boot. It's very manageable and I've had no problems of limp wristing like people were telling me it would. Just tuck your pinky underneath and hang on! By far my most comfortable carry piece.

Good suggestion there ^

In one of our 45's we have to use powe'r ball or FMJ's, nothing else chambers 100%. It's picky

The XD on the other hand, I believe, would shoot everything that would fit in it, including used cigarette butts
