My BAD!

It's a sad state of affairs when a public education and brain washing fouls your own children, and it's all my fault. I suspect I'm not alone in my failures, as documented in the latest presidential election.

During their upbringing I was very busy making a living, doing home repairs, cutting the grass, and taking some time for myself hunting and fishing. I neglected their critical thinking thought process and left that to the public schools and my liberal wife.

Long story short... My kids came down from Illinois to my home in Tennessee for Thanksgiving and spent a few days with us. All my kids are now adults and productive citizens of society. As a parent, you love your children unconditionally, period! But you sure can lose allot of respect on their choices and narrow minded thinking!

Seems the younger generation now thinks they are owed something, and want instant gratification in owning a new home, two new cars, and keep up with the Joneses at tax payers expense.The working hard and saving for the future is not necessary, I'll borrow it and get it right now!

During the course of their visit, the subject of politics came up and we discussed who we voted for. My son said he voted for Obummer because he was pro union, because he has a union job? My daughter said she voted for Obummer also because, he is articulate and looked better on TV? Damn, what a failure their father is, not spending any time informing them growing up on politics and its effects!

Whether you want to admit it or not, I believe this is one reason we're in the shape we are in today. Our children have been brain washed in the public education system and not enough parental involvement to counter the socialist movement.

My beliefs are so strong on our American freedoms and rights, I almost want to distance myself from them? When they need money and help, I'm tempted to tell them to ask Obummer for assistance.

I can't believe my own children believe, as Americans, they are owed something, and entitled?

I know what you mean. My brother in law who is 20 yrs old, going on 12 told me he voted for O' because his girlfriend's mom and dad told him he had to since he was living under their roof & he was afraid his girlfriend wouldn't "put out" if he voted for Romney. Plus he's convinced that Obama is a big gun supporter! I don't care who he votes for, but what an idiotic reason for voting the way he did! By the way, he doesn't even know the name of our vice president! Is this a typical Dem. household?

Yeah, no. I might be young but I don't feel like I'm owed anything, then again I actually know the value of a dollar and work. I thank my mom for that.

Thanks for posting. I try to spend a fair amount of time undoing the silly [email="cr@p"]cr@p[/email] drilled into my childrens' heads at school. Your post encourages me to redouble my efforts.

Well, I'm proud to say my 26 yr old son is a strong-right-leaning-conservative and so is most of his friends.
My wife and I won't take all the credit, his private education in a Christian school may have also had something to do with it.

I have a 14 year old daughter in Davidson county schools. It's a constant battle to keep her from being indoctrinated. I had a yard sign for Romney and she even was concerned about her friends on the school bus seeing it! She loves pop music and that's yet another attack on values when her favorite singers endorsed Obama...I have to sit her down regularly to talk about this stuff. One argument I use is the one about how I'm gonna take part of her allowance that she works for and give it to the "poor" kids who won't work for their allowance. That seems to help , lol.

I too have a hard time un-teaching my kids. My 7 year old daughter still belives Columbus discovered America. She even stated she wanted to vote for Obama (in a school election), despite my constant telling her that he did not value our constitution. Maybe it is the fact that she is 7, my 11 year old gets it. I think the point overall though is we as parents have a uphill battle un-teaching and re-teaching the lies that our kids are told.

Well, this is why I'm glad I was homeschooled. I learn a true, quality set of values and sense, not a bunch of horse puckey force-fed to kids in public school to make us all think, look, act alike. I was subjected to that for four years, and that alone was enough for me. Ugh.
