CCI Quiet - 5 round accuracy

I saw a topic on another forum, where CCI Quiet was not that accurate.

My son and I thought we would do some video and post the results. We shot CCI Quiet at 50 yards using a Savage TRR-SR. Shot off a bipod, scope at 6X and through a can. I've tried w/o can at the range and it's the same without at this distance.

We both shot a couple 5 round groups. Mine last one was best (he often beats me) so below are the results. Group was 1.105". Had I not had the flyer, .810". I will add, we both have done much better, but this is "typical" and does illustrate, this is "decent" ammo for the intendid application. That is, backyard shooting and not ****ing off neighbors!

Note: For comparison sake with Wolf and Eley match, this rifle has done well under MOA with a best so far of .850" at 100 yards. Also, I have shot enough of this ammo to notice, there is some deviation on the powder here and there. Every so often, you will get a loud crack.

This ammo does exactly what I want through a can. It's quieter than an air rifle, but more accurate (at longer distance) and more resistant to wind. Only drawback is, you wind up with a lot of brass on the patio! [img]http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif[/img]

With my can on my Cricket pistol the Quiet 22 ammo is quieter than my slingshot. And it is really accurate when you compare it to CB rounds.

I've been happy with the quiet. At about 18-20 yards from a bipod I can dump 20-30 rounds in a hole half the size of a dime. Then I get bored and quit.

I'm not the best shot so groupings like that are enough to make me one happy camper.

I have also been searching for a quiet way to enjoy shooting with my daughter without bothering the neighbors.

I have not had the same results with the CCI Quiet at 50yds. I only shot one 50 round box and it was not very good out of my 10/22. It drops so bad at 50 yds that I have never tried it again. Only 710fps and only moderately quieter than normal .22 with no can (I do not own one but have been thinking about getting one)and it will not cycle the bolt on my 10/22 or my Mark III. I did buy another 50 round box that I will give a second try since others seem to like them.

It is no where near as accurate as my RWS 350 magnum (.22 pellet) at 50 yds 1000fps

I still plan to give the CCI subsonic a try. It is a little over 1000fps. Edited December 1, 2012 by swim615

As far as drop, it just happens that zero for CCI Quiet at 50 is the same as Blazer at 100 yards. Most of my .22 shooting at the range is 100 yards.
So when at home, I don't have to touch the scope. It's zeroed just about the same.

Correct, these will not cycle a semi auto gun. Also, I'm using an extremely accurate gun (sub MOA at 100 yards as posted above). So these results may be entirely different using another type of gun.

*I forgot to point out earlier. Don't let the "quiet" part and 710 FPS fool you. It's still a 40g bullet traveling at more than 700 FPS. It will go right through 1" treated wood at 50 yards. I would expect these to be lethal out to at least 100 yards, maybe more. JBM program said 19.8 ft/lbs at 400 yards. In other words, more energy at 400 yards than a pellet gun at point blank. I think we are looking for 2 different things with some commonality between them after rereading the title and the original post.

My first concern is with wanting to be quiet and not bother the neighbors. With accuracy being secondary. I am only plinking and wanting to ring the steel with my daughter. It is a steel plate swinger with a 4 inch circle. My 10/22 is set for .22long rifle at 50yds. The 4 inch circle hangs about 6 inches off the ground and while aiming at the center with the CCI quiets it hits the ground before it gets to the target. If my scope were zeroed for the Quiets the results may be much better groups.
