Plastic stock?

Checked out some new ruger 10/22's today at Benton Shooters. Looking for a SS International with a walnut stock. They had the black take-down, regular run of the mill ones, even had one of those "cattle drive" laser engraved deals. but what caught my eye was a wooden looking stock with basket weave checkering. But upon closer inspection the stock looked like it was plastic. Does Ruger use fake wooden stocks now?

They make about 138 different kinds of 10/22 but none have an imitation wood stock that I'm aware of. Many new rifles with wood furniture do have a "plasticy" look from whatever coating they put on them. Edited by Garufa
