No Finger Prints left on Fingers

Recommended Posts

I have an elderly friend that took and passed the HCP, went to get fingerprinted and his prints are wore off, they have told him he has until the 7th of Decmeber to be fingerprinted again or he will have to go thorugh the process again. The question is, will that keep him from being able to get his permit? Not likely that his prints are going to grow back? Does he have any other options?

Thanks for you help!

I have no experience with this but it might help to speak with the sherif. I only say this because that is one of the steps for class III acquisition...or so I am under the impression.

Maybe someone else can help me expound on this...

There are some ways that fingerprints can become dimished from diseases like dermatitis, but it seems a lot more likely that he simply had an inexperienced person taking his prints.

I was recently surprised when getting a set of fingerprint cards done that fingerprint taking has become a bit of a lost art. Since this particular government agency used an electronic scanner, and I needed a specific set of cards, there was literally no one in this agency who could take my prints. Finally, the director - who I'm pretty sure hasn't taken a print in 20 years got fed up with his staff and took my prints himself.

My 71 yr old father-in-law recently had the same problem. He was told that the creases in his fingers prevented his prints from being viable. The private agency taking his prints sent his contact information to the TBI, I suppose for research for a criminal background. He is waiting to hear the next step.

When I worked at UPS many years ago (my early 20's) my fingerprints were worn off from handling boxes 4 hours a day for five years straight. My finger tips looked polished almost. So it can happen at any age, but I don't know how you move forward from there.

He told me today he went back to the UPS store yesterday to be fingerprinted again and a different person took his prints. He said she put something on his fingers that was not done the first time, he is hopeful that they got prints this time.I appreciate the replies, I will let you know what he finds out!
