Had a man come by the welding shop today and was looking for a revolver. He wanted to trade a S&W semi auto in 40cal. He did not have the auto with him, so I didn't get to see it. He said it had been shot very little since he bought it new and he wanted $300 for it. I'm a revolver person and don't know much about autos. What is the high and low of this gun and anything particular I should look for. What would be considered a good buy? I know the S&W autos are not thought much of in some forums what is everyone's opinion here? He said he would bring it buy the shop tomorrow and I don't want to miss a deal or get stuck with a bad deal. -----MP

guns america has two sigmas in .40, they were priced $350 and $425 and a NIB for $320. I am thinking 300 is kind of high. Especially not knowing if the gun is new, condition it is in. Is it hot? etc....

I might offer 250 for it unless it is like new and has the box, then maybe 300 is fair.

I realize it was a very general question and I don't have much information. I do appreciate the info. I not worried about it being hot, I've known the man for years. I have owned some of the metal autos back in the stone age (70's, 80's) but know nothing about the polymer guns if that is what it is. Oh well, I'll just check it out tomorrow. Thanks---MP
