NO metter what BUIS sight I use My ar always shoots high.
I have tried a gasblock front sight, magpull sight set and a CAA sight set.
The rifle consistantly shoots a group 4 to 6 inches high even with the sight adjusted all the way to the stop.
What could caue this?
It will shopot to point of aim with and optic, I just want to have BUIS just in case I need them.

Depending on your zero distance and the distance your shooting this may be completely normal. I.E. If you zero at 25 meters your are going to be impacting roughly 6 inches high at 100 meters.

It may be helpful if you post pictures of your set up. It may also be that your front sight is on a lower plane than your rear sight.

Trying to start at 25 yards.
I thought it was in the same plane. I just laid a straight edge along it and it isn't
The group is a nice group all holes touching just high.
I feel stupid for not checking if it was on the same plane before I just assumed it was.

I guess I need to get a steel gas block height sight and start over Edited by zgunbear

Probably. Gas block and float rail sights are two different heights. And all Magpul front sights are for FF rails. If you shoot much with a Magpul sight on a gas block it will melt anyway.

More info and not in short hand please.

Is the FSP a rail mounted sight or a gas block mount? Flip up of fixed? factory installed or self installed?

If factory the brand.

The upper a A3, A4 or a A2?

Barrel twist + OAL and ammunition used?

They make risers for that instead of having to change the gas block or changing the sight. It is true also that you dont use the plastic front sights on the gas block if you shoot a lot. Edited by fivestring63
