Officer wrote a ticket for a 3 yr old peeing in his own yard.

While the ticket was ridiculous, canning an officer with an 18 year record seems a bit harsh as well. I feel a suspension or some form of internal punishment, along with dropping the ticket would have been justice. But that's based only on what was said in the article.

I really think there are some MAJOR holes in this story.

Welcome to modern journalism.

Looks like he got fired because City Hall got 200 e-mails.

Being a police officer requires good judgment. Writing a $2500 ticket for a 3 yr old doing something he didn't know was wrong, was very bad judgment. Seniority doesn't mean you get to coast and do what you want.

He had 18 years in law enforcement but only a year there, as I read it. Was it a legitimate ticket? If it was he just hit the retirement lotto.

There is more to this story than we know. If not, it sounds like they will also need a new Police Chief if the city fires people for making stupid decisions.

I would like to hear the real story.

There is a whole lot more to this story than the media is telling us. The fact the charge was changed to contributing to the delinquency of a minor tells me this was a very complex case.

Sorry, but this is no justification for being stupid.

Seems harsh considering that the ###hole officer in Canton who threatened to shoot a concealed carry permit holder in the face was determined to have done nothing wrong and could be rehired.

100% agree. Something else is going on here and I would not be surprised to find out this is but the straw that broke the camels back in this case, having 18 years on the job I have to wonder what else has happened in that time frame because I just can't believe that an issue like this would equate to losing his job unless there have been many other complaints issued in the past.

That Canton cop should have been fired for that one incident and from what I remember there were others.

What do you think really happened? I mean, it sounds pretty cut and dried to me. Sure, there were vehicles being urinated on, but did he really think the 3 year old was doing it?
