Black friday deals on TV's?

Wife wants to upgrade the big tv and we've been looking around at some of the stuff going on black friday but wanted to know if you all are seeing anything extra. We've got a 47" and would like to move up to a 60"+ but will take as small as a 55" as long as it's a really good deal. So far we've found the Walmart 60" LED Vizio for $688 - we have all Vizio tv's, and love them but not sure if I can physically deal with the idiots at walmart for a doorbuster. Just also ran through the Best Buy ad, and they also sent out an email this morning with a Insignia 55" LCD for $599 starting tomorrow morning (not really familiar with the brand though).

Does anyone have the scoop on any larger tv's over the next two weeks(other than what's in the bf ads? As long as it is 55"+ and has 1080p, we don't care about it being lcd, led, dlp or plasma.- Also would like to keep it under $1000, but will go over if it's too good to pass up. Edited by Sam1

This looks like it might be legitimate:

It has the deal from Walmart you talked about. Good luck with the crowds.

I would suggest a good brand name. Sony, Samsung, Toshiba, LG. stay away from the "bargin brand names" ask me how I know

TY, I was looking at the bfads.net site and it wasn't able to show everything at once.

If you want a deal on a TV go the week after the Super Bowl and get an open item discount one. There is a reason they can sell TVs for such a low price on Black Friday and that reason does not equal quality.

You might want to consider TigerDirect. I get their Daily Deal newsletter. It's usually computers and laptops, but sometimes it's a tv. They have a $1,400 Samsung 60" for $847 with no tax and free shipping. Personally, I wouldn't go out in the Black Friday mess, but to each his own... maybe if it were half price...

Oh, by the way, I think Insignia is the Best Buy store brand. I don't know who makes it for them. I was told when I bought my tv, but I can't remember. We bought a plasma because the blacks were really black... big mistake. It looked great in the store, but we have a well lighted room with lots of windows and the picture is almost invisible on a sunny day until we close the curtains.

I second that. Tigerdirect is great. I got a 72" DLP 3D 1080P for $800 delivered about a year ago (still running great). I also buy a lot of computers there. I use monoprice.com for all the cables, mounts and connections.

That's what we need! How is the DLP brightness compared to an lcd in your house?

I got mine from newegg.com. Bought the LW6500 series of LG. think the LM replaced it. It shipped from Memphis.

Get as big as you can. I narrowed the type to LCD for me after reading a boat load about them. Then I got down to LG,Samsung or Sony for picture quality. I ended up finding the LG cheaper for what I wanted in bells and whistles. Completely happy!

Insignia is BB' house brand. Can be made by one of any of the other name brand tv makers that they carry. I would say it is equally or better than a vizio.

It's been great. I Have not needed to change the bulb yet in over a year. Our living room is about 25x30 with windows on both sides, and we don't have any problems with tv or movies. Now on Xbox games (Halo and COD), I find myself turning the brightness level up a bit. My set is a Mitsubishi. It's the second DLP that I have owned (the first was a Mitsubishi 60" 730p DLP and it still works fine after several years).

I agree with the previous "plasma in a dark room" statement (I have one in my bedroom). However, a DLP is a great way to get a really big high def tv for a better price. An LCD or plasma will be brighter. The DLP still has great depth, color and contrast, and it's not to dark in our room

Best Buy's Deal of the Day for today (11/20/12) is a 60" Sharp TV. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Misc/null/pcmcat248000050016.c?id=pcmcat248000050016&ref=167&loc=02
for $699.

I bought a used Samsung 50" DLP TV from Circuit City years ago and had some trouble with it. The color wheel inside the TV would shut off whenever you would try to watch anything in HD. I called Samsung up not expecting much as it was a used TV, but to my surprise they had a Samsung tech at my house the next day and had it up and running in no time free of charge. I was quite impressed. TV is still going strong years later.

The tv that walmart has for $688 on black friday, is $899 at tigerdirect http://www.tigerdire...6445&CatId=3830

Anyone know if it is worth $950? The walmart one would be $750 after taxes and that is if you want to deal with the crowd and can even get one.

Think I found one! http://www.samsclub.com/sams/65-vizio-led-1080p-120hz-smart-hdtv/prod7870078.ip?sprodId=prod7870078&searchTerm=538591&_requestid=244927#desc

I think we're going to go for the 65" led, it's right at the price range, the brand we have and trust and size is bigger than we thought we could get for this price.

Thanks everyone

Go check out SAMs club. They have a year return policy on their TVs. Had a LCD/DVD combo in the kids room. About 10 months in the DVD player gave out. Took it back for a full refund.

Aren't those Black Friday deals refurbed units anyway? Edited by Dad03

After bouncing back and for 100 times, we just laid claim to a 73" DLP. Was $899 w/ free shipping from dell. - They are selling them for $849 starting at midnight, but my beauty sleep is worth more than that.
