Just wondering if Im the only one that detests the holidays more ever year. I just can't get in any kind of holiday spirit anymore. It's just that everything is just too commercial now days. When stores start with Christmas decorations before halloween and valentine's day on Christmas night, they all just seem to loose meaning

Not me, I love this time of year. Especially Christmas (it has nothing to-do with presents though). I do agree that the Christmas theme shouldn't begin until after thanksgiving, though.

Pulled into the neighborhood where we are currently staying here in Phoenix after being out to dinner. It was after sundown and I could see inside one of the homes.

They already had their Christmas tree up with other decorations.

I'm with you. Between the commercialization and the idiots and worked being jacked up for three months, I despise Christmas. Edited by deerslayer

I don't hate Christmas, The reason is to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. But it has become so commercial and about the "almighty dolar" that it's hard to enjoy the season.

A couple of our big box stores in town had Christmas stuff out at the beginning of October. If you figure in the after Christmas liquidation sales that go on thru Janurary, that is 4 months, or 1/3 of the year selling Christmas. Disgusting.

I worked retail for about 13 years and it really turned me off to holidays. However, last year was my 1st year away from it and it was much better. I figure in another year or two I might be reformed.

The commercialism is very much a bummer. Hearing Christmas music in stores after Halloween is a bit much. The traffic, crowded stores, and general hustle & bustle really sucks. Before I had kids, I had begun to hate the whole holiday season.

Now that I have little ones, my joy has been given a good swift kick back toward enjoying it. They get so excited it's hard and it's fun to watch.

Just remember.... that $15.99 shipping charge that you'd think was outrageous any other time of year... it's worth it in December.

I am not so much into the Holidays themselves, but I do enjoy gathering together with family & friends, eating until I am about to pop a button & watching all of the kids rip open presents and then screech with delite because they got that thing that they had seen the commercial for on TV 500,000 times.

Oh and eggnog, splash of rum + eggnog = happy!

I don't dislike the holiday season but I do get tired of having, "It's Christmas and if you don't spend more than you can possibly afford then you are a Grinch and an unAmerican, unpatriotic Scrooge who makes the baby Jesus cry," shoved down my throat. I hate hearing Christmas music in stores before Thanksgiving. Let's face it, with the rare exception of a few, choice selections from some of the older tunes, most Christmas music sucks anyhow - and when 'contemporary' singers like Celine Dion, etc. attack them and try to add their own 'style' to them those songs suck even worse. I certainly don't want to hear it in every store I go into for two months even apart from it 'wearing out' the season.

Oh, and yeah, I worked retail for years - first at a grocery store and then at a shop at East Town Mall. I feel for you guys who work retail, now as it truly does make one despise the holiday season.

I hate it. Absolutely hate it. The commercialization of Christmas irks me, and "hypocrites" in my family irk me. After my grandparents died, my mom's siblings more or less dumped us for reasons we can't figure out. We haven't had a "real" Christmas in about 20 years for that reason. I hope I can marry into a normal and loving family someday. Until then, Thanksgiving and Christmas are just extended weekends to me. Last year my job had me out of the country for two weeks at Thanksgiving. I lost my two days off while the To Do list around the house just got bigger and bigger. At least I'll be home this year with nice weather.

I need to post a photo of my middle finger on Facebook and tag all of my family. Hehe.

Not a big fan. Not a lot of family left these days and what is left, I do not necessarily like.
Add to that the inability to go anywhere in Chattanooga for two months makes me despise this time of year.

About the only time I have ever liked this time of year was when I was a bag boy as a teen where I would see BIG tips!!! and my last 8-5 which was absolutely dead for two months. Really miss the days of being at "wrok" for 9 hours but only actually working for about an hour a day :(
