From the Left: You don’t need handguns

Don't you just love it when some know-it-all college student who doesn't know his a$$ from a hole in the ground tries to tell you what you need and don't need? Just take a look at this bovine scat - this is what our educational system is producing:

What a doofus. Too bad he missed his 5th grade civics class to understand the concept of the bill of rights and negative liberties.

"What I am interested in is telling you that you don’t need handguns. The Constitution is a little vague. It doesn’t say what types of arms you get to bear, which allowed us to enforce the now expired assault weapons ban. But more importantly, if the Constitution told you to jump off a bridge, would you do it? I didn’t think so. We could bend the rule without breaking it. We could pick a type of weapon to ban. "

This one paragraph says it all. Apparently, during his leftication, he never learned what "shall not be infringed" means; this is not vague at all. I do not see how it could be more clear. There is no bending to that. Anything that could be construed as such would obviously be an infringement.

I feel like one would be obligated to give a reasoned, nuanced rebuttal to his arguments, but the only response that comes to mind (that he might understand) is, "You my friend, are an idiot!"

That guy is an English major? Really? The construction of that column does not speak well of that school's English department. I only have a high school education, so if my sentence construction and grammar aren't top shelf, it is to be expected. What's his excuse?

Don't single out liberals. There are liberal gunnies, even on this forum! We mustn't offend!

I get what you are saying, but the author identified himself as one of the left.

Some people, no matter how logical your argument or peacefully you present your message, will simply refuse to accept an opposing position. People like this tend to surround themselves with like minded individuals who help each other convince one another that they are indeed correct in their opinion and everyone else is inferior in intelligence.

I see it every day.

I'm pretty sure the jumping off a bridge argument stopped working on people around age 8. Seriously, that's just crap parents use when their kids want something because everybody else has it. It doesn't even fit in the context. In what rational world do people draft governing documents telling people to jump off of bridges hundreds of years later? Oh wait, none. It must only happen in that special little world that he mentioned he lives in, that seems to work a lot like Whose Line is is Anyway. The rules are made up and the points don't matter. Like his argument.

He should put his money where his mouth is by walking from one side of Detroit to the other. I bet this entitled white boy can't do it without getting robbed, shot, stabbed or raped. Perhaps a combination of all. The world is safe when you live in a protected bubble of ignorance.
