UPDATE#1 My AMD 65 is coming along

Here is my first AK style rifle. Started life as a standard TGI AMD65 from Buds ($439 at the time) but I don't have any pics from when I first got it. So far I put a Krebs stock adapter, Ace 7.5" folding stock, Hogue front handguard, and Hogue pistol grip. Plans are to switch to MI extended rail and a Magpul hand stop kit, more mags, and eventually an Aimpoint (still debating optic). Might SBR it down the road since it has a 12.5" barrel. I was an AR guy but this thing is winning me over. Let me know what you think.
Yes it retains the Hungarian 12.5" barrel and receiver. Just have to remove the tapco barrel extension and brake.
I'm still learning all the class 3 rules so I'm curious. Right now in order to be legal the extension and brake have to get you to 16" and be "non removable" correct? So I'm guessing you will have to cut those parts off if you do the sbr? If so, do they just currently have a tack weld making them "permanent"?

It's nice, not kidding, but I couldn't do that to mine. That's one of my favorite rifles, and is light. Mine is for one thing only.

Just to get somewhere safe. It's a short range wet dream. And it will never get a stamp on it. Have you weighed it, before

and after? That cheap folder that comes on it is so utilitarian for me, couldn't bring myself to replace it. I wasn't sure I even

liked mine until after the first time I shot it. Not criticizing you at all, just it's original form is what fits me with my arm still

screwed up. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat.

Keep posting those pics. It does look good.

6.8 - I knew it wouldn't appeal to traditionalists so no offense taken. Weight doesn't seem noticeably heavier. I'm sure on a scale it is but when I pick it up I don't notice a difference. I think it balances better with the ace folder and I get a good cheek weld. It still maintains the handiness factor that made the rifle appeal to me. I didn't care for ak's until I shot this one and it does seem to like you to run it fast. When I bought it I knew it would be a project gun for me so you will probably see it go through several changes, trial and error.
