What weight bullets you plan on shooting with the 300?

There are several powders that work for both but what is ideal for one is not ideal for the other. I woudl recommend getting a powder for the 223 and a powder for the 300.

I can steer you towards what powders work for both if I know what weight bullets you plan on shooting.

That's a stretch. So far I've used H110 exclusively for the Blackout (super only). It's a little fast for 223. I normally use Varget or Reloader 15 for 223, but am getting ready to load a bunch with 842. The 842 loads will be Dolomite loads.

There may be a gap powder out there somewhere but the two cartridges are too different to really share. The 223 is all rifle but the 300 BLK can be thought of as more of a magnum pistol cartridge. It acts like one and requires powders much the same. The 300 has more in common with a 357 magnum than it does a 223.

I mainly want it for .223. I'm using h110 for my 300aac supers already. I really just want something I could use in a pinch.

Yep. Same deal with the .458 SOCOM.

SMP 842 is a powder that I have tested and will work with both. I use it to shoot 150 grain bullets in 300 Blackout to 1,650 fps. That is about 300 fps short of the same bullet with an ideal powder. But it will lock back and function.

There are several powders that will work with the 223 and heavy 300 blackout loads. I have used H4198 and AA2015 with heavy bullets and both work well with the 223. I have not tested these powders with lightweight bullets as of yet.

BTW, Lil'Gun works better for lightweight bullets, and heavy bullets, than H110. :)
