Just got it yesterday. 4.5 week old chocolate lab female. The mother starting rejecting the litter so the people tried to find homes asap. Vet checked it out and she is good to go.

I freakin' LOVE puppy pictures! I have videos of our two little Dachshunds when they were puppies playing and it is a guaranteed smile every time I watch them.

I've a 1yr old chocolate lab laying at my feet, he's only my 2nd lab, many years prior to adopting him I adopted a female black lab who I can honestly say was one of the best dogs I have ever had the pleasure of sharing my life with.

In fact the great experience that I had with her is the reason that I chose to adopt another lab after moving down here to TN, they are very loving, eager to please, extremely intelligent, unflinchingly loyal, mostly obedient (they can be head-strong/independent at times), very protective but not aggressive, loves to play, great prey instinct, etc, etc.

My chocolate is the same, albiet he has grown to twice the size that my black lab was, she was more of a large medium size, he on the other hand is quite large, more the size of the Rhodesian Ridge Back that I had, sanz the bad attitude.

Anyway if you can't tell I am a serious dog lover & I am especially fond of labs, so if you ever need to re-home her don't hesitate to get ahold of me!

Enjoy your new addition to your family!, btw what did you name her?

I used to raise labs, Fantastic dogs. If your not familiar with them the first year can be mighty rough. Nothing is safe! You got a great looking pup sir. You can't beat a chocolate!

Yea they are a handful as pups, they do grow into wonderful adult dogs though, plenty of excersize (including a lot of swimming sessions) along with a good varity of chew toys helps.

They also "bond" really strong, so seperation anxiety can be an issue, plenty of regular socialization with other people/animals or another dog as a companion helps to eleviate some that.

Congratulations. I bet she'll grow up to be a wonderful companion, but definitely be watchful the first 2 years. We had a chocolate lab (male) for almost 14 years that we lost about 6 years ago. He became the best dog we've ever had, but man the first 18 months to 2 years were tough! He chewed up 3 dryer vents, part of a picnic table, several fence posts, untold numbers of stuffed animals, and even a few bricks out of the flower bed. And until the day he died, you better not leave a paper towel or a glove or sock where he could see it or it would "disappear".

Be sure and post a few pictures along as she grows up!

Yep, hide shoes, socks, furniture, remote controls, wallets, yadda yadda. Sweet dogs.

Ours wasn't everybody's friend. She was scary around strangers, but it only took about 5 minutes of tense situation and then a stranger wasn't a stranger anymore. But the first 5 minutes if a stranger were unwise enough to offer a hand he would have been wise to count his fingers afterward. It was pretty good actually, having a real affectionate dog also willing and able to maul strangers. Just had to be vigilant.

You never know what to expect from a lab. I had one that had to go live with my dad, probably the meanest lab I have ever seen. I got one now that is scared of water, but is super intelligent. They say the color doesn't mean anything but having owned so many and being around so many I beg to differ. She's a cutie!
When I say she is mean I mean she snaps, growls and jumps around if she doesn't know you. It takes about 2 or 3 visits of a few minutes each for her to warm up and accept you. After she "knows" you its like a completely different dog. We got her when she was 7 wks old so I have no clue how this aggressive behavior came about.
