National Retirement Program

Recommended Posts

This is from the National Seniors Council (NSC) seen it skimming through some sites this morning.
Government run national retirement program to do away with personal 401ks since according to them they only are good for the rich people. I mean Im not a rich person but the wife and I have 401ks. I am sick and tired ok the governemnt demonizing people who are successful in life because they worked hard and never gave up. And seems the most of the ones that are doing the demonizing are atleast millionires themselves so how about you give up some of your money before you start sticking your hands in my pocket.

Expect to see a lot more of this in the future. Liberals are looking for new sources of money to steal in order to support entitlements that make folks dependent on government. They have doubled the number of Food Stamp recipients, increased the number on welfare, and ObamaCare adds millions more to that dependency.

Socialism only works until you run out of other people's money to steal. We are getting very close to that.

An interesting observation is that registration inevitably leads to confiscation. First we had to 'register' our retirement accounts (401k, IRAs, etc). And now the socialists are talking about stealing from them. With all of that 'registered' money out there, it will be very difficult to hide it from confiscation. Remember that when anyone talks about firearm registration.

Im far from rich (monetarily) and understand that you get "out" what you put "in" to life. I'm happy with who I am and what I have. Never will I understand the mindset that taking from others is justified, rich or poor.

So you were born poor? Sucks, take control of your life and build it up how you desire.
So you were born rich? Great for you, build your life as you would like it.

My riches are not monetary, they're my wife, children, family, and most importantly my faith. No amount of money gained or lost can make me any more/less happy.

The problem with so many is the focus placed on equality. Bill Gates has tons of cash, does that mean he's happier than me? I think not. The folks with the "it's unfair" mindset will only want more and more till nothing is left. What does it take for a person to realize its not about material items and that Family is where the true value is?

Doesn't surprise me at all and with the current make-up in Washington, they might even get something like this through (perhaps with "grandfathering in" existing plans and/or putting caps on how much can be put away.

After all, a retired person who doesn't need a government every month is a VERY dangerous individual (when they need totally dependent sheep).

I can even see them passing a law that says if you currently have a 401K, then you have to choose... either your 401K or government retirement (including Social Security), but not both.

Bastards.

Do we get 32 hour work weeks and 9 weeks vacation like the French too??? I bet the liberal media will be reporting this on the evening news.

Just a decade or two ago, someone who actually saved for their own retirement and ran their financial life responsibly would have been held up as an example of how to life. Now, if you have any money at all you are part of the "evil rich" and you deserve to be punished. Edited by RobertNashville

People been riding that hobby-horse since at least 2008. How would it be any different than social security? If you got a stack in yer IRA and yer 10 years out from retirement-- The gov takes the money, writes you an IOU, then the gov spends the money (ie gives your money to their friends allegedly to build solar panels and such). Then in 10 years when you retire, congress will be squabbling about how the hell can they scrape up enough money to pay your retirement check.

Exactly what happened, except the fund was depleted before present "King" took throne. Social Security Fund was used for IRAQ and Afghanistan wars. Both political parties were in cahoots on this one!

401k and 403 funds are another con job. My son had his whole retirement in a 401K (He is management and had no company pension program. Fund Manager (reputable firm, big bank) took all the money and left for the Caymans.

All of the "alternate"programs depend on investments in either Financial Market or Government bonds.

Government bonds are another con job. They are just IOUs and are immediately spent with future taxpayers holding the debt. (Big part of our current National Debt)

Financial Market is just a big Casino operation and has nothing whatsoever to do with GDP or public business growth. It is a fancy card game and the House (Wall Street Brokers and Banks) always win, just like in Las Vegas or Atlantic City.

I had a very reputable Mutual Fund, with wonderful growth showing on all of its Annual Reports. It went "belly up" in the crash and paid out millions of dollars to all of its CEOs and Brokers. Me? I got nothing!

Capitalism , and Free Market (Both wonderful ideas btw) are based on the Goods Market: producing a product or service and letting price (demand) dictate the market. Problem is that the Goods Market got sold out by the Financial Market and now all we have is what they call Political Capitalism or Crony Capitalism. This is nothing but Fascism, or Corporate Socialism.

As it stands right now, no ordinary man is going to get rich or even get enough to retire by playing the "big Game" with Wall Street. The odds are stacked against us. My biggest worry out of all of this is that Socialism is going to rear its ugly head again. Either way accept it, we are screwed! Edited by wjh2657

Did anyone see the original post date? It is over 2 years old. I haven't heard anything new about it since when it was first talked about several years ago.

I heard Quinn and Rose talk about it, again, this morning on the radio. Nothing new, but you know how the government
needs our money.

Good to hear that someone else here listens to The War Room. I flip between them and Mike Church on my hour long commute to work.
