Assume you mean conventional sight like:

Also assume you know that's yer gas block too.

Yep pins have to come out. They're tapered, need to come out from left to right:

Don't get caught up in "left to right" or "right to left" when it comes to taper pins. I have seen plenty that had to be tapped out the opposite direction of what they were "supposed" to go out. Always look for the [i][b]smaller[/b][/i] end of the pin, and tap it out from that side.

The pins may come easily, other times..........not so much. If they are difficult, put some penetrating oil on them and let them set for a while, then try again.
