It's a good thing George Garrett didn't happen upon these dogs.

On Sunday, two dogs were rescued by a good Samaritan in Dallas, Texas.
One dog, a healthy shepherd mix now known as "Joshua," was standing guard over a female who was not far from death.
That dog, now known as "Java," was lying on the ground, her body wasted. Around her neck, a rusty coffee can which was cutting into her ears and flesh.
Both dogs were rushed to Dallas Animal Services where a veterinarian was able to remove the can from Java's neck.

Do they know if someone did that to her or did she stick her head into it and could not get out?
IF that was done by a human, it does not suprise me anymore..humans are assholes..who does that crapp to an animal and gets a kick out of it..
I am just going to stop looking at news..Its gets to the point where it just hurts..
WTF is wrong with people .....

I agree. I hope Java pulls through, and gets a "good foster home and adoption"!

May have been a feral searching for food. While I agree with the humans are a-holes comment, we are not necessarily the perpetrators in this particular instance. I am glad that everything has worked out.

Yeah. I imagine that this pooch was searching for food and just got stuck on its own. I'm glad someone happened by though and was able to rescue it. I wonder if the other dog had to be distracted or contained so they could help.

UPDATED INFO

I guess officials don't know what to think when wondering how the can happened around her neck

“We continue to work with DPD and the DA on this matter,” according to a statement from the Animal Services. “At this point there is no evidence to suggest this was intentional, although that cannot be ruled out.”

“She didn’t do this on her own. How often do you find cans where both ends are cut out?”
Edited by AmericanWorkMule
