First 1911

For along time now, the lucrative 1911 has eluded me. I have literally went to the gun shop to buy one and came home with something else. I finally broke the curse. I have shot the 1911 platform in the past and i really respect the history and nostalgia that goes along with this firearm.

Coming from the DOA-GLOCK generation, a 1911 was lacking in my meager collection. I went with a Taurus for the out of the box features. I don't plan on doing much to this particular 1911. BUT.......i think this gun needs a little sister--like a a Springer PX9161LP Loaded Ultra Compact.

Anyway, here's some pictures:

Congratulations on your first 1911. Some may poo-poo your choice, but don't take it too seriously. The Taurus 1911 is a good shooter, with the potential in the right hands, to be really good. Maybe not great; but for a stock, out of the box...it's pretty good.

I've had 2 so far, a highgloss blue and a stainless. Sold the blue to get the stainless. Also have a pretty little one in .38Super and it is great.

And I'm not one who says Taurus is the best or the worst. There's good and bad in all.

Just to confuse the issue, I've also got some other makes, and had even more. Some I like and have kept. Others have left me.My current fav has got to be the Sig 1911 though. SWEET!! Have a C3 and a TacOps and won't, barring major problems, be leting them go.

THanks--if anyone is really troubled by my "cheaper" 1911, they are more than welcome to buy me a nicer one :x:

Congrats on the new 1911. I was in the same boat this spring. I had wanted one for a long time, but always seemed to come home with something else instead. I hope you're as happy with your new .45 as I am with mine. They are LOTS of fun to shoot.
