Are Redwing boots worth the money?

Before buying compare them to Thorogoods. I used to love Redwings but have switched to Thorogoods. 1)they're cheaper 2)they're made in USA(which is why many want to go redwing)
3)they're as well if not better built, IMO

I realize many of the Redwings are made in USA too but they are the higher end of Redwings line and the cheaper lines are outsourced. I just believe you get more boot for less money with the Thorogoods. The pair I wear now are the best steel toe work boots i've ever worn, period. I got them from unionbootpro i think and saved a considerable amount over what a coworker bought in redwings that were virtually identical. Thorogoods marketing ain't as broad as Redwing but their boots are great, IMO.

The main thing I want is to be able to go in the store and have a pair fitted to my foot exactly. My feet are really bad. I tried the Doctor Scholl's machine at walmart and it laughed at me(not really). The most important thing to me is not necessarily how long they last but how well they support my foot when wearing them every day. I am more inclined to spend the little bit extra this go round on Redwing's just to be sure.

Good luck! The Red Wing store in Madison, TN has measured my feet for every pair of boots I've bought from them. I've been told I was a 13, 13.5, and a 14- and not in that order! Seems it came up different every time they did it.
