which AR Colt should I keep

I have two "preban" Colt AR's and I am not going to keep both, but not sure which to sell and which to keep. Basically looking at collector side and value more so then anything.

One is an SP1 and the other is a MH Sporter Match Hbar.

SP1 is a 1970-71 and the MH I can't find info on the date for. Both are original.
The MH has an obvious heavier barrel, both flash, pistol grip, etc. Both in excellent condition.

If both are in equal condition, they should be fairly close in value, I'd say it really depended on finding the right buyers, for instance I would probably give a hundred or so more for the SP1 than I would the HBAR just because it is more practical for certain applications I would want it for, while someone else who is interested in getting into shooting in a smallbore league might pay a bit more for the HBAR.

You should give one of them to me! :woohoo:

I was planning on buying a colt in january (the 6940p though). I actually haven't gone into "collecting", maybe its because i like shooting all my guns too much. Did you ever fire the guns or were they just for the safe?

Pics? Hopefully someone here will know what an old sp1 is worth, but condition is most of the price too...

Well we are really not supposed to discuss topics that are "what is my gun worth" in nature, so I was trying not to violate any forum rules, however I may have been to vague in dancing around any sort of specifics.

Anyway since they are pre-ban they are worth more to folks living in states with AWB type legislation, my advice would be to check out some of those states forums to see what the going rates for pre-ban AR's are, that is where you will get the most money out of them.
