Indoor IDPA Nashville

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys! I'm new to town and want to shoot some IDPA. But I'm also to cold natured to shoot outside when the weather is bad. Are there any indoor IDPA venues around Nashville?

Thanks!

I used to shoot IDPA practice sessions in the winter up in Michigan, regular matches wrap up in November up there. There is a reason we shoot year round matches here, this weather is mild in comparison. LOL

Will reloaded ammo be allowed? Considering that a high percentage of competitors reload it would be silly not to allow this.

Word is that Nashville Armory plans to do some indoor IDPA. But not sure when.

THAT would be awesome... as I am already an anual member of The Armory! I'll check on it again this weekend. I shot over there on Sunday for the first time, but it was packed and could ask much. As far are reloads, I asked the guy about shooting your own ammo and he said they only care about steel rifle rounds, and "any" handgun round is ok.

They are not a "clean" range thank God! Not that I mind lead free, but the cost is just too high. Edited by JimHouchin

Good to know, I had heard differently.

One of the managers at NA told me that they did plan to hold IDPA matches soon and were working with someone who recently moved to TN who has had a lot of experience setting up stats inside.

I'm sure, however, that reloaded ammo will not be allowed since it already isn't allowed (per their insurance policies).

Hopefully we'll here something official in the near future!!!

Interesting, I wasn't informed about the reloads... Not too much of a concern as I shoot factory ammo, but it won't be successfully if they don't allow everyone to play! And I guess that most IDPA guys reload. Either way, thanks for the heads up.

Just wanted give you guys the update... I went to the range (The Armory) on Sunday and was told handgun reloads are ok to shoot. Didn't ask about rifle, but I also noticed they never asked or checked my ammo (because it was handgun ammo). They will check rifle ammo. So I'm not sure about why the conflicting information? Also, I talk to Brian, one of the owners, and he did confirm they want to start some week night IDPA. They do have some concern about accuracy, but it seems we might have another indoor IDPA choice soon!

Hello guys...I'm the guy who is starting the new IDPA match at the Nashville Armory. I just moved here from Atlanta, where there are six indoor matches, one of which I was MD for. I'm pretty happy that NA came online just as I got here, since they're really the kind of facility we need to run a first-class IDPA match in the city.

We will be holding bi-weekly matches on Tuesdays at 7:00, with the new shooter briefing at 6:30. The first match will be on January 8th. All shooters who attend the inaugural match will need to arrive early for the briefing. In the meantime, please watch this New Shooter Briefing video, put together by my friends down in Georgia:

I will be posting updates and details on Nashville Armory's Facebook page, so stay tuned there. Any questions?

Welcome to Nashville David. Looking forward to seeing a weeknight match in the city. This will be a great opportunity to expose more people to the shooting sports. The facilities at NA are top notch and should be good for indoor IDPA.

I'm going to be there; at least for most of them.

Please note, however, that the TFA (Tennessee Firearms Association) monthly meeting in Nashville is the third Tuesday of each month so some are going to have a conflict (not that any night wouldn't have that possibly). :)

Awesome David thanks for posting and letting us know. I'll be in dry fire mode until I hear further notice. And the 7:00 time works great for the wife and I as we don't usually get off work until 6:00.... just means I have no excuse! Thanks again...

My pleasure, Jim. Will your wife be attending? One of my goals is significant female participation. My fiancée will be shooting with us some of the time. That was one thing I found lacking in Atlanta.

Please Keep us up to date on when this is going to start. My girlfriend is new to the sport but she will participate, and she shoots CDP.

David, did you mean to say Bi-Monthly? Or are you going to put on 2 a week? Of course I haven't looked at Facebook....
