I impulse-bought these for a few bucks new in the plastic clamshell at a pawnshop. Retail is $18.99 and available some places maybe $12 or so. So far has turned out a kewl tool. It comes with a great formed nylon belt scabbard. Has a wire-cutting notch. Locks closed securely and one-thumb unlocks. Back side of one blade is a smooth knife blade and the back side of the other blade is serrated. The blades and the scissors parts are sharp as hell as best I can tell.

The scissors are spring loaded and easy to control. Perhaps the biggest "safety hazard" would be getting used to the back sides of the scissor blades being sharp enough to lay you open. No safety hazard as long as handled with care, however most scissors and snips are not sharp on the back sides and so there would be force of habit to contend with. Well thought out design. The very tip is squared off so it would be unlikely to accidentally stab yerself with em if they slip.

Not all Fiskars are made in finland. There is no "made in xxx" imprinted on this one so dunno where it is made. Wife tried em out for pruning in the front yard and was delighted with em for the little stuff that needs control/precision. I'll have to get her a set of her own.

They could probably be tore up using em for tin snips except thin soft metal, but they cut thru hard-plastic product packaging no problemo. Combination of blades and scissors is great for ripping cardboard boxes. Cut wicked thru carpet. Happened to be cutting a bunch of thick rubber sheet and thinner ribbed vinyl sheet for toolbox drawer and shelf liners, and they cut that stuff great. I've never been good with shears and tend to drift off the cut line. Comparing some good quality sharp larger sewing shears cutting the rubber, it was hard to control the sewing shears and stay on the cut-line. But real easy to stay on the cut line with the fiskars. Whatever about the design is resistant to drifting off the cut line as long as you keep em pointed the correct direction.

Never had any fiskars tools and didn't know about the brand. On their web page they have some wicked-looking shop shears I might have to get for heavier-duty materials. I have had good luck with Fiskar products. They always feel like they'll break easily, but they've all held up to years of use in my garden/lawn/trees. I'll have to take a look at these.
