RCBS Bullet Puller

Recommended Posts

I just pulled bullets from 100 rds of 45/70 ammo with 405g LRFP bullets using a RCBS Hammer type bullet puller.
What a very handy tool for the reloader. Better still don't load up an abundance of ammoand then sale your rifle.

I also learned some differences between brass manufacturers, The Federal (FC) tool about 8 wacks of mallet vs 4 wacks for other brass manufacturers. I'm assuming the FC brass walls are thicker.

Everyone needs at least one bullet puller. I am going to buy another RCBS for back-up. What a labor saver.

I attended a short reloading 101 clinic at Sportsman's Warehouse on saturday and the guy made it pretty entertaining. When he told us about bullet pullers he said it was also known as a "reloader's eraser". He also said when you decide to answer your phone while reloading and then make a mistake, the bullet puller gives you a good chance to train yourself not to get distracted. He then proceeded to smack the puller on the table and said "stupid stupid stupid" each time he smacked the table.

With my next paycheck I will be buying reloading equipment. Will be just in time for the semester to end, woot!

The hammer type is good for a few mistakes, but if you ever want to pull a bunch (like 500), get a collet type puller. I pulled over 500 in just a few hours one time.

This ^^^ for sure. They're not expensive either.

I just recently broke my RCBS kinetic bullet puller that I bought sometime in the early '90's. As long as you use it on wood, it'll last a long time.

I have a couple friends that bragged (yes, bragged) that they had broken several bullet pullers. They were using them on concrete or steel. I guess they thought that they were exceptionally strong.

But after I bought my collet puller, I only use the hammer puller if I don't have the correct collet. And if you have a few hundred, or even ONE hundred, rounds to pull, you won't regret buying the collet puller.
