I am thinking of getting a Rossi R92 lever action rifle in 45 colt as a companion to my Ruger Revolvers. Will this gun handle "Ruger Only" loads?

I'm going to hazard a guess and say that it's probably not a good choice for a regular load but might hold up to occasional Ruger loads. All in all I don't think I would personaly risk it.
Wish Ruger would build an overbuilt lever gun though, that would be cool.

What caliber you thinking would need an overbuilt levergun in?

They make them in 500 S&W as well as a slew of rifle calibers. I can't imagine a gun capable of 45-70 not being capable of handgun loads.

When I searched about the Rossi Model 92 in the Taurus forum and others, I found that opinion says that the 92 action will handle anything that the Ruger will.

I have been been running Ruger Only loads for several years in mine, That is the same action that they use in the .454 Casull model, BTW.

Expect it to thump your shoulder pretty good (mine needs a pad!), Edited by R_Bert

I'm not finding any lever actions on their web site. Maybe they used to make them?

As for the Rossi I was t aware that the action was the same for the 454 as for the 45lc or able to handle the 45-70.

See its only 6:30 and I've learned something new today. :)
