The bad thing about CL is that 90% of the people on there shouldn't be allowed to have internet access. They also have an issue with thinking most people are desperate for $ so they low ball all the time, which is starting to make people list their items at an astronomical amount, so the dimwits think they're getting a good deal when they haggle the price down.

Anymore I'd much rather pay eBay fees and not worry about people thinking they're gonna become the next big CL mogul by lowballing people and reselling their stuff

over the years i have sold several trucks, motocycles, cars, trailers, and farm equipment on graigs list. with the eight pictures now you can show all sides and inside with ease. i put in my ads that i will not respond to e-mails and text messages. i put my phone number in the ad by spelling out the numbers. i have found that 99% of e-mails and text mesages are scammers. when people want to see the item i will meet them in the parking lot of a public business. i take cash and/or bank check only and take payment at the bank. that way the bank can check the money/bank check to make sure it is real. i don't hold anything, it is first come with the money that get it. i show all known problem areas and give a bill of sale along with title when payment is given at the bank. but this sometimes does not stop the scammers from trying. just hang in there, add more rules to your post, drop the e-mail/text message, go with phone calls only. when they asked a dumb question tell them so, it stops the scammer fast.

1) If you're nervous about posting your phone number on Craigslist, checkout www.ringshuffle.com. I use it for all my Craigslist ads.

2) I posted this on Facebook a few weeks ago, I wish more people would read it.

Thanks. This reminds me of when someone pranked me in high school 30 years ago. Someone actually paid the ad in the local paper that said that I typed documents, $0.10 per page. For days/weeks people called my parents home, and asked for me by name. I never did find out who did this, but it was funny the first few days, and got old pretty quick.

English is my 1st language and I still suck at it, so dont worry much about it. As such when I get phone calls from people I dont know I usually either answer in Malay, Tagolog, Korean or Thai. On the rare occasion when the phone call is actually someone I know I get some really strange responces. LOL
