Yes, you can buy a long gun. I was in GA last week at a shop, and the salesman said he could sell me a long gun no problem. Have to ship a handgun to my FFL, though.

So as long as they are a FFL I can buy a rifle out of state. May be trecking up to Owensboro to buy a LWRC

Yes, although there are still some states that have the "contiguous state only" law that used to be required by federal law. Have never been able to find a reliably current comprehensive list. None in the SE (or entire South short of Kali) as far as I know, though.
