...As for the debt level, it is bad, and needs to be addressed. We have kicked the can down the road over the past 12 years. That is 12 years too long.

However, most people see Japan as a stable nation, right? What if I told you their debt load compared to their GDP (Gross Domestic Product) was twice as bad as ours? Yet, they do not seem to be in a panic over it at all... Why?
This has been building for a lot more than 12 years...this course we started on began decades before that.

Having worked for and retired from a Japanese owned company I am fairly sure that the Japanese people who know what is going on are just as concerned as anyone...they simply don't know what to do about it and have no more courage to deal with it than anyone else.

The world economy is going to collapse; the only thing that has prevented it so far has been wealthier countries, mostly the U.S.; propping them up and that is going to stop soon because worthless money, no matter how much of if you print, is still worthless money. We've been insulated from the effects so far but all this has happened before and it always ends the same way. The only real issues left to wonder about is which card in the house of cards we've built will be the one that falls and brings it all down.

Will it be the world abandoning the U.S. Dollar?

Will it be a rise in interest rates to their non-artificially reduced levels?

Will it be a major terrorist attack that shatters world markets?

Maybe a refusal of countries refusing to buy U.S. debt any longer?

A chain reaction collapse among a few of the EU countries?

Those are just a handful of things that can go wrong...there are plenty of others.
