I'm sure that's a state highway so that wouldn't suprise me but you will never see a raise of the speed limit on the US highways or interstates until the Feds say so. They would probably lose federal road money if they raised it without approval or whatever they do. I think 70 is a decent speed people already can't drive and do 85+ so raising the speed limit also raises that threshold people think they can do before getting stopped.

There is no federal speed law. The last one was repealed in '95.
