During the last five years or so I have been seeing a definite bias in the mainstream media. In the last year or so it has gotten absolutely absurd. They have given up any pretext of fair and balanced reporting. MSMNBC is joke , CNN is not far behind, and the big three are getting there.

What ,if anything can be done to counter this bias?
Ratings don,t seem to matter much. CNN & MSNBC have their ratings in the gutter, so I don't think just turning them off alone is going to work. Although I am in favor of it.

So what can we do?

Sure, Fox is top dog, but remember, they stand alone in all TV news reporting/commentary. The aggregate of all the other TV outlets add up to be a more comprehensive liberal barrage.

MSNBC often tops CNN and comes with 3/4 of total viewers of Fox. Depends on day and week, and age group.

Look back over this, and you'll see MSNBC's influence in the pre-election days. Oddly, CNN beat everyone for actual election coverage, but check out a few weeks leading up to it.

I said it over and over in my pre-election prediction: all else being equal, Mitt could not beat the media. Especially since most folks get their TV news 30min a day tops from CBS,NBC, ABC. If that's all you get, then cumulatively over time, what you got was "vote Obama".

I think that is one of the truest statements I have read in a while!

The media has always been biased, since it's inception. It was never intended to be fair and balanced.
Evidently, the liberal media will be around for a long time to come because they have backing from elites
that have no business in making a profit being propped up by other parts of their business.

FOX's business plan is to make a profit because it knows their's is an audience who agree. Same as with
talk radio. You don't see liberals succeeding in that.

An educated electorate, educated by liberal leaning educators, and being gullible, all add up to a permanent
pseudo-educated, indoctrinated group who will obey the liberal media. It will always be there, to a degree.

Our young 'ens have been let down and are only doing what they've been programmed to do. Thankfully not
all of them, but enough. Edited by 6.8 AR

I love a good Think Tank.
I stopped watching TV, a couple years ago, due to the absolute garbage that they push. Not just politics, either. 90% of it is pure drivel.

Fox news will keep telling you what you want to hear so that you'll be in touch with the party line. MSNBC will do the same for the other side.

I will continue to be in awe at the conversations I hear from their viewers. Best free entertainment I've found and zero commercials.
Personally, I think that the smartest thing the liberals have done was to convince people that being a liberal was cool and smart.
To an extent. It's more that they have simply painted their side to be normal or more caring/etc while demonizing our side as extremists.

Clinton, celebrated as a "new" moderate democrat, is clearly farther Left than our much loved Ronald Reagan was far Right.

I am clearly biased, but I think the core of Conservatism is much less extreme than the core of Liberalism.

The perception is the opposite thanks to the media, Hollywood, and academia.

I have a greater dislike for those parties than I do for the liberal politicians that have benefitted from them. If the bias was eliminated, the liberal politicians would never win an election.
