SKS stripper clips.

Recently got some new clips for the SKS only to find they don't fit. They seem to be just a bit to big to fit in the groove in the bolt.
It's a Russian SKS so I'm wondering maybe are there any rifles built with looser tolerances?
Thought about trying to squeeze them some with pliers but that seems like a recipe for disaster.

Anyone know what's up with that?

You sure they're for an SKS? I've got a handful for my yugo and the fit is pretty loose. How well to the rounds fit in the clips? Mine are somewhat snug around the rim.

Nope clips are SKS clips, unless there's something else out there that uses the same design.

The faded one is one of my older milsurp while the blacker one is marked china and just bought at a gun show earlier this year.

I tried all twenty that I bought and got about 9 or 10 to fit. Two work fine the others all need an excessive amount of wiggling and pressure to go in. The rest are junk.

I think I answered my own question as to why with the made in china stamp. Just disappointing to have them and they're useless to me.

I have stripper clips that work with both my Russian and Norinco SKS.

My guess would be that your clips are out of spec and not your rifle.

Yeah highly doubt the rifle is out of spec, more just wondering if the specs or overall tolerance levels change at all by country of origin.

I have a bunch of those Chinese clips laying around too. I have used some that work no problem, but I also have a bunch laying around that I haven't tried at all. Wouldn't be surprised if I have some out of spec too.

I know some of them are tighter than others when loading ammo...

I have some of the chink clips, they work fine in my Yugo, of course it is apples and oranges with your rifle being Russian.

I found new clips were harder to strip into the rifle. I spent time just sliding a steel casing back and forth. It helped a lot with ease of stripping.

That's what I was thinking that the Yugo or Romanian or wherever might be a tad looser.
Some of the clips are hard to load ammo into but I haven't had much trouble unloading into the rifle.
Thanks for the feedback guys, maybe I'll buy a Yugo to go along with the extra clips. ;)
